Northwest Girlchoir Northwest Girlchoir revolutionizes choral education by rejoicing in students’ voices and creativity through embodied music-making.

Our treble choirs welcome and affirm girls and gender expansive youth. Established in 1972, Northwest Girlchoir revolutionizes choral education by rejoicing in students’ voices and creativity through embodied music-making. Guided by our commitment to anti-racism, we inspire joy, belonging, and confidence, and cultivate community through shared experience. Our treble choirs welcome and affirm girls and all youth marginalized by gender. Four auditioned choir levels—Amabile, Vivace, Amore, and Ensemble, serve singers in grades 5-12. Two non-auditioned programs are Prep Choir which serves singers in grades 1-2 and Fresca which serves singers in grades 3+. In a joyful and supportive environment, choristers in Northwest Girlchoir sing, learn, and grow - as musicians and as young people. In 6 different choir levels, singers develop healthy technique, build musicianship skills, and develop creative and collaborative skills. Through a rich rehearsal process, they prepare for public, main stage concerts and community performances throughout the year. LUMA presents WHY WE DREAM, premiering at Benaroya Hall in Seattle on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 8pm. It will be an immersive musical journey into our dreams, why they exist, what they can mean, and how they collide with our waking lives.

Seattle native composer, Mateo Messina's 27th symphony premiere explores the mystery of dreams and what they might be trying to tell us. His concerts always have many surprises and sensory experiences for the audience and as the night unfolds the line between imagination and reality begins to blur.

The performance will feature NWGC's own Sangat and Amore with Northwest Symphony Orchestra, Seattle Ladies Choir and ChoralSounds Northwest of Northwest Associated Arts. The 2nd hour of the concert features special musical guest, DeVotchKa performing their music from the beloved Oscar winning film, Little Miss Sunshine! You’ll see excerpts from the film on the big screen with the band performing with the full 80-piece orchestra.

All proceeds from this concert go to kids and families going through treatment at Seattle Children's!
