Our vision is to regenerate modern society through the inspiration of young men. We believe that all boys are born with a unique gift to bring to the world, and that healthy men are made through mentorship. We believe that mentorship is a crucial ingredient for a healthy society, encouraging collaboration across the generations by tapping into the genius of our youth and reclaiming the wisdom with

in our adults. Journeymen cultivates transformational experiences for boys and men to discover and refine their authentic selves. Last weekend, Journeymen youth and mentors teamed up with the Vashon Food Bank to help move food, supplies, and equipment into their new warehouse and location here on the island.

It was hands-on, sweaty, honest work - and it was beautiful. Not because it makes for a flashy headline, but because it’s the kind of thing that forms young people into contributors.

It reminded me that belonging isn’t just something you receive - it’s something you practice.

Middle school is more than a grade level.

It’s a threshold.

A season of new freedoms, bigger questions, shifting friendships, growing independence, and a deeper need for trusted guides.

Wayfinders is a four-day overnight rite of passage experience for boys ages 12–14. Through challenge, mentorship, nature connection, and community, boys are supported to test their edges, build confidence, strengthen character, and discover more of who they are becoming.

This is not your typical summer camp.

It is a place for boys to be witnessed, challenged, encouraged, and welcomed into the next stage of their journey.

In Boys Council, a young man gets to say what’s real.

Not the polished version.
Not the “I’m fine” version.
The real version.

What’s actually going on at home.
What he’s carrying at school.
What he’s confused by, proud of, afraid of, or trying to understand.

And he gets to be met without judgment.

That kind of openness changes things. It reminds boys that they don’t have to figure life out alone. That honesty is not weakness. That being listened to by peers and mentors can become a kind of strength.

This is what Boys Council is for: a circle where young men practice truth, trust, accountability, and belonging.

Because every boy deserves a place where he can speak freely and be heard.

Nearly 100 people filled the Vashon Theatre last week for a screening of Gone Guys — an award-winning documentary on the challenges facing boys and young men today.

The film was powerful. The panel that followed was even more so.
Jerome Hunter (founder of Seattle School for Boys), Cooper (a Journeymen alum and Quest graduate), and Tara Vanselow (VHS counselor and longtime Journeymen supporter) sat down with our Program Manager Duncan Endava for a conversation that was honest, grounded, and moving.

People left that room wanting to be part of what we're building.
That energy is the village forming in real time.

There is something quietly radical about a group of teenage boys who actually show up for each other.

This past weekend we had the honor of spending 24 hours in the woods with 10 of them. Friends who came in a little unsure, and left having told each other - out loud, face to face - what they genuinely see and appreciate in one another.
That kind of thing doesn't happen by accident. And it doesn't happen enough.

Research is clear: deep friendships and the ability to be known by others are among the strongest predictors of long-term health and wellbeing. The bonds formed young - the ones built on more than just proximity - those carry people through the hard chapters of life.
Watching these young men be that for each other gave us real hope.

We offer custom overnight camp experiences for small groups - friend groups, teams, classes, or any crew ready to go a little deeper together. If you know a group that could use this, we'd love to talk.

A time when boys are still playful, curious, tender, wild, and deeply impressionable.

Voyagers is a five-day day camp for boys ages 8–11, created to support this threshold with outdoor adventure, healthy peer connection, trusted mentors, emotional literacy, and opportunities to discover their own authentic leadership.

They’ll play.
They’ll stretch.
They’ll build confidence.
They’ll learn to name what they feel.
They’ll remember that growing up doesn’t have to mean growing alone.

When a young person is carrying anger, trauma, and the weight of a difficult upbringing, what they often need most is not punishment.

They need to be brought back into the fold.

Through our rites of passage experiences, we’ve seen what becomes possible when a young man is surrounded by love, mentorship, and community.

We’ve seen young men let go of old patterns.
We’ve seen them choose sobriety.
We’ve seen them find work, connection, purpose, and a deeper sense of who they are.

Transformation happens when young people are given the support they need to step fully into their own hearts.

After years of navigating bullying, Rivers found something different at Journeymen.

Hope isn't always found where you expect it.

For a lot of men, it shows up in a circle. In the moment someone else says the thing you've never had the words for or in the moments of allowing ourself to be fully witnessed.

That's what keeps us coming back.
