Journeymen

Journeymen Helping boys become wholehearted men Journeymen is a newly formed 501c3 organization currently based on Vashon Island, WA.

Our vision is to regenerate modern society through the inspiration of young men. We believe that all boys are born with a unique gift to bring to the world, and that healthy men are made through mentorship. We believe that mentorship is a crucial ingredient for a healthy society, encouraging collaboration across the generations by tapping into the genius of our youth and reclaiming the wisdom with

in our adults. Journeymen cultivates transformational experiences for boys and men to discover and refine their authentic selves. Through nature-based rites of passage, long term mentorship, and community engagement, we raise inspired and compassionate young men. When a young person is carrying anger, trauma, and the weight of a difficult upbringing, what they often need most is not punishment.

They need to be brought back into the fold.

Through our rites of passage experiences, we’ve seen what becomes possible when a young man is surrounded by love, mentorship, and community.

We’ve seen young men let go of old patterns.
We’ve seen them choose sobriety.
We’ve seen them find work, connection, purpose, and a deeper sense of who they are.

Transformation happens when young people are given the support they need to step fully into their own hearts.

After years of navigating bullying, Rivers found something different at Journeymen.

He found community.
He found acceptance.
He found mentors who know him by name.

From the very first gathering, he felt welcomed and supported.

That’s the power of being seen, held, and cared for by a community.

Hope isn't always found where you expect it.

For a lot of men, it shows up in a circle. In the moment someone else says the thing you've never had the words for or in the moments of allowing ourself to be fully witnessed.

That's what keeps us coming back.

What advice does every young man need to hear?

Maybe it’s this:

You don’t have to have it all figured out.
You don’t have to carry it all alone.
And you don’t have to become a man by disconnecting from your heart.

The world needs young men who can feel, listen, lead, repair, ask for help, and stand with integrity.

At Journeymen, we believe young men need more than advice.

They need mentors.
They need community.
They need spaces where they can be challenged, supported, and reminded of who they are becoming.

What advice would you pass on to the next generation?

There are some conversations that do not happen in the rush of everyday life.

Passing the Torch is a three-day, two-night campout for boys 12+ and their dads or male mentors. A chance to step out of the regular routine, slow down under the stars, and create space for deeper connection.

Through nature, mentorship, play, challenge, and meaningful reflection, fathers and sons are invited to strengthen their relationship, open channels for healthy communication, and plant seeds for a lifetime of authentic sharing.

This is more than a weekend away.

It is a chance to be seen by one another.

To listen differently.

To remember that growing up does not have to happen alone.

When we invest in boys and young men, we invest in the future of our communities.

A brighter world doesn’t happen by accident. It grows when young people are given mentorship, belonging, accountability, and the support to become grounded, emotionally intelligent leaders.

Our boys don’t just need guidance for today. They need rites of passage, strong community, and meaningful connection to help shape who they become for tomorrow.

This is how we build a better future.

Gone Guys Screening
Vashon Theatre
Tuesday, April 28th
Doors at 5:30pm

Journeymen invites the Vashon community to a FREE screening of *Gone Guys* at Vashon Theater. This powerful, timely documentary explores the struggles facing boys and men today, and what a community like ours can do about it.

This isn't a culture war film. And it isn't about choosing between our boys and our girls. It's about recognizing a simple truth: when young men lose their way, we all feel it. And when they thrive, when they grow into respectful, grounded, contributing members of this community, we all rise.

Vashon is an island that cares. We care about every kid finding their footing. We care about raising young people who lead with integrity, treat others with respect, and show up for their neighbors. Right now, too many of our boys aren't getting what they need to do that, and we have the power to change it.

*Gone Guys* is thought-provoking, moving, and an invitation we can't ignore. Following the screening, a panel of local leaders actively working with boys and men right here on Vashon will help translate what we've seen into real, community-driven action.

Vashon Theater
FREE — All are welcome (Suggested for ages 13+)

Bring your questions. Bring your sons, your daughters, your students, your neighbors. This is a film for everyone who believes a whole community only thrives when all of its members do.

Join us for a free community screening of Gone Guys on April 28 at 5:30pm at the Vashon Theatre.

This film shines a light on something many families, mentors, and communities are feeling: too many boys and young men are growing up disconnected, isolated, and without the support they need to fully thrive.

At Journeymen, this is the heart of our work.

We believe boys need more than achievement or survival. They need belonging. They need challenge. They need honest mentorship, meaningful rites of passage, time in nature, and a community that calls them forward.

Gone Guys invites us to face what is happening.
Journeymen is here to help build the response.

Come watch, reflect, and join the conversation.

A rite of passage can change the story we carry about ourselves. For Alex, it meant moving from insecurity and self-doubt into deep self-love, acceptance, and inner belonging. That kind of transformation changes everything.

Rites of passage help young people move from a me-centered world to a we-centered life—rooted in service, purpose, and belonging. This is how we support boys in becoming wholehearted young men of character and courage.
