Most people don't know Cancer Lifeline exists … until they need us.
That's how it works. A diagnosis arrives. The medical team takes over. And somewhere in the middle of appointments and treatment plans and fear that doesn't fit neatly into any chart, someone finds their way to us.

We're the other half of the cancer care team … the mental health therapists, support groups, nutritionists, and retreats that tend to everything medicine alone cannot reach. We've been here for over 50 years, and donor support is what makes it possible to keep our programs accessible to anyone in our community facing cancer, regardless of what they can afford.

Next week is GiveBIG … and we'll be asking for your help to keep it that way.

For now, we just wanted you to know we're here. And that because of people like you, we always have been.

What a beautiful story! We thank our community parther, Fred Hutch, for sharing it!

After moving from Massachusetts to Washington to be closer to her first grandchild, Barbara Doyle thought the massive nosebleeds she was experiencing were just a reaction to the Pacific Northwest air. They weren’t.

Those nosebleeds led to a life-changing diagnosis: an extremely rare and aggressive sinus cancer called sinonasal squamous cell carcinoma. Barbara turned to the multidisciplinary care team at Fred Hutch, who put together a comprehensive care plan involving delicate surgery followed by an intense course of chemotherapy and precision proton therapy.

Through it all, Barbara was able to lean on her care team for support. "My radiation oncologist, Dr. Jay Liao, put me at ease, she said. "He kept telling me how well I was doing, how strong I was. I asked ‘Can I survive this?’ and he said ‘Yes, you can!’ It felt like I’d come to Washington for a reason.”

In October 2024, Barbara rang the bell in the lobby of Fred Hutch - Proton Therapy to mark the end of treatment. Today, her scans are clear, her hair has grown back, and she's making new memories with her family. 💙
