Opera on Tap Seattle Opera in a BAR? Why not! Come grab a martini with your Mozart. What’s Opera on Tap? Where do we perform? Anywhere people will let us (mostly bars). So… why?

Opera on Tap is the largest network of operatic performing artists in the country. We take a local, grassroots and VERY fun approach to community outreach in the name of our art form. But not really so much in concert halls and opera houses. We love our communities and want to perform for them. We want to see our art form that we have committed our lives to crafting continue to exist in the near a

nd far future. We want to provide more performance opportunities to the thousands of opera artists throughout the country who have an amazing gift they want to share. We want to foster and develop the artistic entrepreneurial spirit. We want to find those people out there, that have never heard an opera, never sat inside of a concert hall, are intimidated by the mere mention of opera, think its only for rich white people- and then we want to sing for them and blow their minds.

We are mentioned in Broadway World!

'...(Opera On Tap Seattle's) mentality of just “get up there and play/sing!” has been a huge influence on our project. Their main goal is to bring Opera into the bar and other casual environments. They’ve been doing that here for 15 years! I saw one of their concerts, met the rest of the group and knew that in Bel Canto we had a sister group, a kindred spirit and ally in the fight to make Opera easier to access and bring it back to the audience.'

Thanks to John Costello, founder of the new local opera project Bel Canto Seattle, for the shoutout! We agree; we love to support small, local community efforts like BCS that make opera and the arts more accessible ❤️❤️❤️
