Recently, a group of young entrepreneurs in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, showed just how powerful kindness can be.

Siblings Theo and Fleur put their creativity and hard work into raising money for a cause they cared about. Theo ran a snow cone stall, while Fleur sold handmade perfume and bracelets. Together with their friends, they chose to donate their proceeds to A Child's Notebook.

The funds they raised will help build a new school in rural Laos, creating opportunities for children who may otherwise not have access to a safe place to learn.

It's inspiring to see children helping other children and discovering that even small acts of generosity can make a lasting difference.

Celebrating a huge milestone for our community: the graduation of our first FIVE 12th grade students!

One of these graduates, Oven (boy on far right), received one of ACN’s very first scholarships back in 2021 in Naxan — the village where our scholarship program began. Today, he’s dreaming even bigger: he hopes to become a teacher, and we’re proud to continue supporting him as he takes this next step.

This spring, we awarded 682 scholarships and celebrated 211 graduates:
• 15 graduating from vocational college
• 5 graduating from 12th grade
• 191 graduating from 9th grade

We started this scholarship program with one hope: to help more students attend and stay in school. Seeing 191 students complete middle school is an incredible celebration of that vision becoming reality.

Every certificate, every graduate, every dream — it all begins with opportunity.

With more than 13 years of program and operations experience in Laos, Daleen brings deep expertise working alongside NGOs, government agencies, and bilateral donors. Daleen’s background spans education and workforce program design, teacher training, curriculum development, and classroom teaching.
