Yesterday, the Ballard Elks Lodge was filled as folks gathered together for the PNA's Power of Community luncheon to celebrate our commitment to a stronger, more resilient community. Folks were nourished by delicious food, warmed by conversations, educated about the importance of social health, and inspired by the work of friends and neighbors.
Attendees shared what fills their plate -- from music to pets to friends and family to programming and classes found at the PNA and more, sustenance and support takes all forms!
28 community members were nominated to receive the PNA's 2nd Annual Community Legacy Maker Award. The incredible nominees were put forth by their friends, family members, and peers in recognition of their service and impact and how it embodies the heart of the PNA’s mission.
The program highlighted the importance of social connection at every life-stage, form meaningful relationships, and build a sense of belonging within our community.
Finally, we celebrated Roger Faris, the 2026 Community Legacy Award Maker recipient, who brought one of the PNA's first programs, the Tool Library, to the organization.
As one of the oldest tool libraries in the country, it ensures that a circular economy becomes the norm in NW Seattle, and serves as a model for other Tool Libraries across the region.
As the first Tool Library Director, Roger thoughtfully grew the program, helping thousands of community members plan and execute home improvement projects. He brought citywide recognition to the PNA through his call-in radio show on KUOW where he advised callers on home-repair projects. Roger's infectious passion for DIY lives on in the consultative service Tool Library volunteers continue to provide.
