What does it actually mean to live in tune with nature? 🌼

At the 2025 BioFi Cascadia Conference, we sat down with Brandon Letsinger - Co-founder of & Executive Director of the πŸ—ΊοΈ

He shared something simple and powerful:

Bio-regionalism is about connecting to the local story of place.
When you enter a landscape, you become part of its story.

In a time when global crises feel overwhelming and abstract, bioregions give us something real. Measurable. Actionable. Local. πŸŒ…πŸŒ»

Instead of asking:
β€œHow do I fix the planet?”

We ask:
Are the salmon returning?
Is our green cover expanding?
Are our local food systems improving?
What can I do when I walk out my front door?

Even though this interview was filmed a while ago, his message feels even more urgent now. 🌎

Systems are shifting. People are searching for alternatives.
Bioregionalism offers an uncorrupted framework rooted in responsibility, place, and regeneration. 🌱

Happy Solstice Community πŸ’š

As we close out the year, we’re sharing a reflection on the impact that has been made practicing Bioregional Flow Funding. 🌍✨

This newsletter linked here weaves together stories of impact from our first cohort of Flow Funders, showing how trust-based, unrestricted funding has supported Indigenous sovereignty, food systems, youth education, disaster recovery, and women-led regeneration across multiple bioregions 🌱🀝

These stories remind us what’s possible when resources are entrusted to people closest to their communities. 🌊

We shared learnings from our recent time in Mexico and Guatemala πŸ‡²πŸ‡½πŸ‡¬πŸ‡Ή where the Planetary Party Protocol moved from concept to lived practice - inviting us into deeper listening, accountability, and relationship with place and local leadership πŸ”„πŸ’§

We're also honoring Susan Davis Moora’s legacy πŸ•―οΈ, sharing what’s next through an upcoming bioregional activation series 🌿, & announcing the beginnings of a Conscious Women’s Funder Circle of Practice πŸ’«

This newsletter is an offering of gratitude and learning, and its an invitation - for those curious about resourcing regeneration in ways rooted in trust, reciprocity, and care. πŸ’š

Permaculture entreprenuer, Charles, based in Uganda shares how he used the Flow Funds he received from our Flow Funder, Bloom Network, to cover the cost of training 10 teachers on Permaculture. Permaculture is now a part of the national curriculum in secondary schools in Uganda, for grades senior 1 to senior 4 - increasing food security for children and families alike. Join us in supporting these initiatives. Let's create positive change together!

Kinship Earth's Flow Funders are helping prevent toxic mining waste from polluting Minnesota waterways, and protecting sacred waters and treaty rights. They're also expanding food security programs and supporting Indigenous sovereignty.

When local leaders are trusted and resourced, amazing things happen.

Here’s β€˜s Executive Director Sydney Griffith ~ ~ speaking about Flow Funding. πŸŒŠπŸ’Έ

Flow Funding is a trust-based approach to philanthropy with no grant applications and no extensive reporting requirements. πŸ“ŠπŸ“ It streamlines the flow of resources to changemakers so they can stay focused on their communities, not on paperwork. βœ¨πŸ’§

At Kinship Earth, we’re practicing Bioregional Flow Funding, resourcing place-based leaders and bioregional organizing groups who are working together to address the social, ecological, & economic challenges their Bioregions are facing. πŸ—ΊοΈπŸŒͺ️ These leaders know what their ecosystems need, and we trust them to deploy the funds accordingly. 🌱🌍

We’re also focused on educating bioregional organizing groups on how to create their own Flow Funds so they can tap into local wealth and beyond, and resource their communities directly. πŸŒ€πŸ’›

Additionally, we’re educating family offices, foundations, donor-advised funds, & high-net-worth individuals on how they can practice Flow Funding - and why this approach fills critical gaps in traditional, institutional philanthropy. πŸŒΏπŸ›οΈ

In this video, Sydney Griffith, Exec. Dir. of Kinship Earth, speaks at the Transformative Ventures Family Office Gathering - - during NYC Climate Week 2025, sharing why the SDGs and our current systems are not enough in the face of climate tipping points. Sydney points to the bioregional movement and Planetary Parties as pathways for transmuting grief into action β€” bringing communities together for deep listening, participatory grantmaking, celebration, and systemic healing.

🌱 Through Kinship Earth and its Flow Funding model, parts of this vision are already underway β€” supporting bioregional organizing groups and place-based changemakers who are healing ecosystems and strengthening community resilience.

This is how we begin shifting from business as usual toward the more beautiful world our hearts know is possible.

Thank you of for producing this video.
