Take a look at what the Mini Mart youth have been up to during our first Artivism Workshop series of 2026! They spent 5 sessions learning the ins and outs of super 8 filmmaking from Laura C. Wright. They learned storyboarding, recording film and sound, and digital video editing! Don’t miss their screening at the annual Georgetown Super 8 Film Festival () this September.

In this program the notion of the ‘object lesson’ is stripped of metaphor and returned to its original context as sensory observation (cultivated by British educator Elizabeth Mayo in the 19th Century in her texts Lessons on Objects and Lessons on Shells). The properties of objects and matter, along with their transformations through use value, are witnessed with exacting, revelatory attention.

Join us this Saturday, May 9 from 4-8p for the opening reception of ᴏɴᴄᴇ ᴡɪʟᴅ ʀɪᴠᴇʀ! This exhibition is a visionary project by Green-Duwamish Artist-in-Residence Timothy White Eagle and collaborators exploring the living power of the Duwamish River and its watershed.

May 9 – June 21

ᴄᴏɴᴄʀᴇᴛᴇ ɪꜱɴ’ᴛ ꜰᴏʀᴇᴠᴇʀ.

The exhibition brings together photography, video, sound, and installation to examine the illusion of control between the living force of the Duwamish River and the industrial systems built to contain it. The work reflects on impermanence and the limits of human authority over land and water, as the river and the communities along its shores remind us that concrete is not forever and that the river will one day reclaim its wildness.

This is the last weekend to check out our current exhibition, Mutable Memory, open through April 26!

We’d like to thank the artists on view, Naomi Kasumi and Rachel Dorsey, for sharing their works with us at Mini Mart City Park. It has been so fruitful to live amongst these works. Despite their differences in materials and technique, both share a similar intensity. The emotion they put into their works is palpable due to the fervor within the tightly bound books of Kasumi and the repetitive lines of Dorsey’s largescale drawings.
