Follow Yes Seattle Libraries on Facebook and Instagram ()! They're the source for all things Seattle Proposition 1 (the library levy) this summer.

Enhancing library materials, programs, staffing, accessibility, and climate resilience over the next seven years will depend on the passing of Prop. 1.

We are just over a month out from ballots dropping for Seattle voters. Please join the Friends of The Seattle Public Library in following the campaign and sharing it with your network!

The Friends are proud to endorse Seattle Proposition 1, the 2026–2033 Library Levy renewal.

Prop. 1 will, among MANY other things:
-ensure our libraries retain frequent open hours and skilled, trusted staff
-expand free programming for patrons of all ages (like StoryTimes, conversation groups, and more)
-add digital and physical materials to the collection, alleviating weeks- and months-long wait times
-allocate funding for basic building maintenance like fixing elevators and escalators

Learn more about how you can support The Library and this proposition at the Yes Seattle Libraries campaign website: https://yesseattlelibraries.org/

📅 Ballots are mailed mid-July and are due by August 4!

The Friends are all about uplifting the people, places, and programs of The SPL. One way we like to do that is by visiting branches and staying up to speed with what's going on around the system.

Earlier this month, Friends' staff checked in with the awesome folks at High Point Branch in West Seattle.

High Point boasts an awesome seed library in collaboration with other local orgs, a puzzle swap, a self-love reflection station (may be updated in June), gorgeous themed displays by staff, local art, and tons more.

Shout out your neighborhood branch and its staff in the comments!

May 17 is Little Free Library Day! Little Free Library became a nonprofit on this date in 2012.

Is there an LFL in your neighborhood? Maybe you’re even a steward!

Did you know that the Friends supply LFLs all around the region? Stewards can find the Friends in the LFL book directory online, then come to our Georgetown location to pick up boxes of gently pre-loved books.
