***A MESSAGE FROM STARS PRESIDENT***
Dear STARS Membership,
Greetings from your outgoing STARS President! I hope you and your families are well and healthy. I am writing with a few updates from the STARS Board.
To begin, we unsurprisingly decided to cancel our STARS Fall Dinner Event, which was set to occur in November. Not only did the STARS Board feel this is the responsible choice, but we are adhering to the guidelines in King County which currently recommend gathering with no more than 5 people outside your household per week. We have still been meeting (virtually) as a Board, continuing to brainstorm and find ways to keep our amazing community connected. We are hopeful for a virtual event early next year, and we are also entertaining the idea of an outdoor event in the summer depending on the status of the pandemic and the recommendations at that time. Stay tuned!
On a bittersweet note, I must announce that my time as your STARS President has come to an end after almost 2 years, but I am so thrilled to pass the presidential baton to my fellow board member – Chip Muller. His wealth of knowledge and experience in the field and in this community make me excited for the future of STARS. I will remain on the board as the Immediate Past President, with Sharon LaMothe serving as Vice President and Whitney Archer as the Secretary. I’d like to say a big thank you to Kenzi Wineke who has served her two years on the STARS Board as Treasurer. I have been fortunate to work with such dedicated and passionate board members!
That leaves us with three open positions – Treasurer and two General Board Member positions. We are now accepting nominations for these three positions – please email them to [email protected]. The Treasurer is a two year term, and the General Board positions are one year spots, with the option to stay on as is or move into a Secretary role. We think this is a great way to dip your toes in and learn more about what being on the board entails. We hope to have members from various practices in the greater Seattle area and from various departments within those clinics. Please send us someone that you think would be a great addition to the team!
If you are considering nominating yourself or a colleague, I would like to personally reassure you that this is an awesome board to join. Not only is the time commitment minimal, but helping to support and engage this community has been so fulfilling. If you’d like to hear more about any of the positions before deciding, please do not hesitate to email us. I’m happy to talk to anyone that is interested.
As always, thank you ALL for everything that you do for our patients and the community – especially with all the challenges we’ve faced this year. Can’t wait to connect with you all again someday soon!
All my best,
Anna Caldwell
STARS Immediate Past President
