Tomorrow on 𝕎𝕒𝕜𝕖 𝕌𝕡 ℝ𝕚𝕘𝕙𝕥, you'll hear Tim 's conversation with Nathan & Mikaela Miller from Mission Scranton as they talk about the ministry of empowering at-risk youth and families of inner-city Scranton through life changing relationships, lasting hope, and opportunities for a brighter future.

They will also talk about their upcoming 1st Annual Banquet on Friday, October 2 at Fiorelli's Catering in Peckville, from 6:00 - 9:00 pm with the Silent Auction beginning at 5:00 pm

Calling all Mission Scranton Volunteer Alumni and Clarks Summit University Alumni! We have experienced so many memories over the years in ministry and making ripples of impact together in our students lives.

🥳 Typically in October there would be an opportunity to bring alumni back together for CSU’s homecoming weekend. In honor of that, this October you can come together at our Mission Scranton's Annual Adult Banquet 2026 on Friday, October 2 in the Scranton area and get a volunteer alumni or CSU alumni discount!

We would love to reunite and see you again, while joining many of our teammates and friends of the ministry for a memorable night and continue growing the ripples of impact in our students lives!

🎒Back-to-School Block Party in Hilltop!
We served 120+ students with various school supplies and backpacks last week in both neighborhoods. The families also enjoyed games, grilled hot dogs, snow cones, and cotton candy, and some of the parents won raffle prizes!

🧡 Thanks again to the Big Valley Bible Church family for helping resource this event and send a team up to cook and serve!

💪 Shoutout to our teens who did a great job helping serve at these events at the school supply tables, at the cotton candy and snow cone stand, and helped with set-up and tear down.

🎒 Back-to-School Party in the Valley View Neighborhood! Shoutout to the Big Valley Bible Church family for partnering with our team and teens this week!

After a rain storm, and through the humidity and surprise swarm of bugs, we pulled off the party at the playground and got to meet new families in the neighborhood!

“What’s happening in the neighborhood this week? Any big news or exciting things happen,” I asked a student. She looked up at me and said, “You guys, when you come.”

🌆 This summer our teams have been serving outside in the Valley View and Hilltop neighborhoods, meeting students and families where they are at at the playground, but field, waking through the neighborhood or at the basketball courts. Our focus this summer is pursuing to image Christ’s character to them, grow in mentor relationships, and build new relationships.

🙌 We are excited to take some time over the next few weeks to share some neighborhood stories from our teams!

Our high school students enjoyed their camp week at Word of Life Island with the Steamtown Church youth group! This was our first summer going to the “Island” and God used this week to move in many of our students hearts and minds.

🏕️ Final Week of Camps!

We have 6 of our high school students at Word Of Life Island for the week along with the Steamtown Church: youth group from Scranton!

🙌 Our girls had a great experience in the Lancaster area last week at the Piercing Word day camp! They learned theatre performance skills, grew with their team, memorized lines and Bible verses, and joined all the campers to put on a production of Joshua’s story with the Bible verses as their script. More photos to come from that!

We were blessed with housing help throughout the week! Our primary housing was a place in the countryside where they enjoyed the Lancaster countryside culture of horse and buggies clopping by the house, roasting marshmallows for s’mores, and seeing all the different animals and sunset views.

🙌 We had an incredible week at Inspire Sports Camps 2026! God did a work in our students hearts and minds.

10 students from our junior high program attended
4 students made decisions to follow Jesus!!
1 student decided to recommit to live for Jesus!!

The coaches and staff shared so much love to the campers and inspired them to love and live for Jesus and to make a difference in their city.

One student said, “I came back as a different person than I when I left.” She helped serve with our team in her neighborhood this week after camp.
