Obviously they will need more intellectual formation, and lack of catechesis is a real issue. However, boys and young men today need more examples of holiness in their lives, not just more lectures.
Our camps are intentionally designed not to be about teaching boys what Holy, Happy, Hazardous men are, but rather giving them real life examples.
We are exuberant that very soon hundreds of boys and young men will get to witness the example of FSSP priests and seminarians for days on end amidst various outdoor adventures. As the crew makes final preparations for camp and reflect on how to be the greatest examples of virtue, we challenge you to consider this:
How can I be a better example of faith to those around me, and not just give another lecture?

Today’s Collect reminds us that the Christian life is rooted in both holy fear and love of God. Trusting in His providence, we know that He never abandons those who are firmly established in His love.
May we remain steadfast in faith, faithful to His commandments, and ever guided by His grace.

"What is it that is missing?”
“The boys must not only be loved, but they must know that they are loved.”
St. John Bosco's dream in 1884 reveals just how important it is that boys and men experience and know the love of their superiors.
For boys and men to live the Faith and love the Church, they must know that the Church loves them, and experience that in a real way. That very love and attention the FSSP priests and seminarians give as leaders of all our programs is what makes the impact they have possible. Our parishes and Bosco Ministries could not exist without them.
Now, it is our turn to show love and appreciation to them. Congratulations to the 12 men who were ordained as priests of the Fraternity of St. Peter. We are so very grateful for your example of "laying down one's life for a friend." Know of our constant prayers for you, and we love you in return.
