THROWBACK THURSDAY!

One of the earliest examples of the Tomorrow's Leaders Today (TLT) program's commitment to service dates back to the TLT Class of 2013. As part of their community service project, students organized a sock drive to benefit the Voluntary Action Center.

While collecting socks may seem like a simple gesture, it addressed a critical need. Socks are among the most requested-and least donated-items at shelters and service organizations. They provide comfort, warmth, dignity, and protection for individuals experiencing homelessness and financial hardship.

Thanks to the generosity and dedication of the TLT Class of 2013, more than 500 pairs of socks were collected and distributed to people throughout our community.

It's Mission Monday! Today, we hear from Antonio Berardi, Leadership Fundamentals 2.0 Program Alum, about his Mission Moment:

“Leadership Lackawanna has helped me grow as a leader by showing me the value of building relationships and working together. It has strengthened my confidence and connected me with people who share the same passion for serving our community.

I have seen how receiving support can change someone’s life. A person who once came to our food pantry as a participant during a difficult time later became a volunteer, wanting to give back and help others who were in similar situations. This showed me that our work is about more than providing food and resources, it is about building relationships, restoring hope, and empowering people to become part of the community that supports one another. This is the true impact of our mission, we are not only providing necessities, we are building relationships, creating hope, and empowering people to give back. When individuals become stronger, our entire community becomes stronger.

The experience has reinforced that strong partnerships help us reach more individuals and families with the food, resources, and support they need. It has inspired me to continue leading with purpose and making a positive impact in our community.”
