The Wireless Society of Southern Maine is Maine's most active Amateur Radio club, taking part in various on-air activities throughout the year, including Field Day, Summits on the Air (SOTA), International Lighthouse & Lightship Weekend (ILLW), and more! The WSSM is partners with the Cumberland County Emergency Management Agency, to provide communications support, and members are also active in SK

NEW MEETING LOCATION! Please join us this Thursday from 7PM-9PM, at the Cumberland County EMA Bunker, located at 22 High Street, in Windham, ME, for our Monthly Business Meeting. We'll be finalizing plans for 2026 ARRL Field Day, which takes place June 27-28. Similar to the past two years, we'll be setting up at the Windham High School campus and plan on operating as 3A (a club station with 3 full time transmitters), during the event....

APRS is a great utility, often bundled with a radio or easily added functionality with a cable or Bluetooth and a mobile app. It's often used for search and rescue, tracking SAG vehicles in marathons and bicycle races, simply sending messages between operators in noisy environments, and requesting basic info from the Internet when off-grid.

We planned out our training calendar, reviewed the logistics of some upcoming events including Westbrook Together Days and summer Field Day, and talked about some equipment upgrades that are needed.
