Kids First Center is thrilled to announce the date and location of our 2026 Annual Gala! This year's Gala will take place on June 10th from 6:00PM - 8:30PM at the Portland Country Club!

Last year Kids First Center provided $138,295 in financial aid to parents in need across the state of Maine. This year, as our reach and goals expand, we plan to increase that number.

Our move to virtual classes has significantly increased our reach across the state of Maine, allowing us to serve individuals and families in some of the most remote and rural communities. Research from the National Institutes of Health indicates that individuals in rural areas are at a 27% greater risk of experiencing intimate partner violence than those in urban settings. At the same time, many of the regions we are now serving experience higher rates of poverty and have fewer local supports for families in transition.

Please help us continue our work and achieve our goal to reach more Maine families than ever.

Join us for food, drinks, a live and silent auction, and more!

Be on the lookout for forthcoming ticket information and the opportunity to show your support for Kids First Center.

Registration is open for Kids First for Kids!

This four-hour program is an engaging and interactive support group designed for kids in grades one through six whose families are experiencing a separation, a divorce, or a difficult time post-separation.

Through age-appropriate activities and peer interactions, kids will learn about parental separation and ways to manage family challenges in healthy and positive ways. Kids First for Kids! is designed to provide school-aged children with a unique opportunity to share experiences with peers in a safe, neutral environment.

Hosted at UNE's Portland Campus, on Saturday, March 14th, 9am-1pm.

Kids First for Kids! is supported by grants and donations to the Kids First Center. There is no cost to enroll children in this group, though donations to offset the costs of the work of Kids First Center are greatly appreciated.

Kids First for Kids has been rescheduled! Now on Saturday, November 29th!

There is still time to register for our FREE Kids First for Kids program!

Join us on Saturday, November 29th at the UNE Portland campus for a fun and interactive day designed for children in grades 1–6.
Led by two of our social work facilitators, this program offers a supportive space for kids to explore their thoughts and feelings around divorce and separation. Through games, activities, and peer connection, children can share their experiences and feel less alone in what they’re going through.

Please note: This is not a counseling session, but a safe, peer-based environment to foster understanding and connection.
