A new chapter of hope has opened in Savannah. SCAD is proud to celebrate the opening of the Union Mission Emmaus House Resource Center โ a transformative space designed to provide critical support, stability, and resources for individuals and families in our community.
SCAD played a key role in shaping the facility itself. Through SCAD SERVEโs Design for Good program, a team of students led by Prof. Scott Horner collaborated to develop both interior and exterior concepts rooted in trauma-informed design principles. Their work focused on creating a welcoming, accessible, and restorative environment โ recognizing the importance of spaces that foster dignity, comfort, and healing for those accessing services. This resource center represents whatโs possible when community partnerships and service come together to meet real needs โ offering access to housing support, case management, and essential services for those working toward stability.
The SCAD SERVE Community Fund provided $372,000 to this important project, reinforcing our commitment to creating meaningful, lasting impact in Savannah.
Weโre honored to stand alongside Union Mission in helping create a space where hope, support, and opportunity can thrive.
