🐢 WiSE - Into the Wild on Wassaw! 🌊 What an incredible adventure on Wassaw Island this past weekend with the Caretta Research Project!🐢

A huge thank you to Caretta for donating this amazing "Day Trip with Loggerhead Sea Turtle Hatchlings" to our WiSE Auction! 🐢💚 Two lucky auction winners had the unforgettable opportunity to witness these tiny hatchlings up close as they took their first steps toward the sea and began their incredible journey into the wild. 🌊✨

It was especially meaningful to see that, following the recent fire on Wassaw, all of the sea turtle nests remained safe. What a wonderful reminder of the resilience of these incredible creatures and the importance of protecting their nesting habitat. 💙

We’re so grateful to Caretta for making this once-in-a-lifetime experience possible and, most importantly, for the vital work you do to protect and conserve our beloved sea turtles. Your dedication makes experiences like these possible while inspiring all of us to care more deeply for the wildlife and wild places around us.

What an amazing week of eco-adventures with Horizons Savannah! 🐟🐊🌞Thank you to all of our incredible educators, guides, and volunteers who made this unforgettable week possible: Mark Lebos, Keith Swinson, Mollie Kinard, Dodie Sanders, Ben Wells, Ryder Goodman, Yvette Carmen Szeleczky, Ashley Badger, Garret Jones, Mike Neal of Bull River Cruises, and the wonderful staff at the Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex.

Together, we inspired curiosity and a love for the outdoors through hands-on experiences, including the following:

What a wonderful time we had last week with campers from Camp Moon River at Savannah Country Day School! 🌿☀️

Campers enjoyed a variety of outdoor adventures, including kayaking, beach ecology, a litter clean-up with Fight Dirty Tybee, and environmental sampling. Through these fun, interactive experiences, they explored the incredible coastal ecosystems of our region while discovering the importance of environmental stewardship and protecting our natural resources.

Thank you, Camp Moon River, for spending the week with us! We loved sharing the beauty and wonders of Georgia's coast with your campers and hope to see you again soon.

Recently, we led an exciting eco-adventure to the Savannah Coastal Refuges Complex with students from Butler Elementary School and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers - Savannah! 🐊 We spotted nearly 20 alligators during our visit!

Last week, we had a fantastic time teaching to students from Butler Elementary School, A.B. Williams Elementary School, and the 21st Century Community Learning Centers - Savannah! 🐢 We discovered mole crabs, hermit crabs, and even a horseshoe crab while learning how to protect nests during nesting season.

As you head to the beach this summer, remember to watch for marked nests and fill in any sandcastle holes before you leave. And if you're visiting Tybee Island, please keep an eye out for TINY hatchlings crossing Highway 80! 🐢🐢🐢

Here are some pictures from our Birding Adventure with students from Butler Elementary School! The students had a wonderful time learning about birds and other wildlife, including the pictured Yellow-bellied Slider! 🐢Through hands-on exploration (scavenger hunt) and observation, students discovered the importance of local habitats and the amazing animals that call them home.

We loved sharing this outdoor learning experience and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards! 🌿🦅🐢

What a wonderful time we had during our lesson with the Pre-K students from Butler Elementary School for ! 🐟🌊
