“Games should provide genuine emotional value.” – Yidong “William” Wang (B.F.A., game development, 2026).

For technical artist Yidong “William” Wang, technology and artistic intent go hand. His senior thesis project “Entropya” distills exploration, puzzles, and surreal storytelling into an immersive psychological journey in which emotions become visual metaphors.

Wang participated in two Global Game Jam events organized by SCAD, working primarily as a lead programmer and technical artist. The experience, he said, helped him develop collaboration skills, project management instincts, and the ability to make decisions quickly under pressure.

Additionally, introducing the project at the 2026 gave Wang a new perspective on the relationship between creator, system, and audience. His first time exhibiting as a developer, he quickly learned how to present the game to potential investors.

“Overall, the response was incredibly positive,” he said. “Seeing players emotionally connect with the experience was especially meaningful for our team.”
