Gregg Azzopardi is an award-winning animation veteran and educator with more than 30 years of experience spanning feature film, television, interactive entertainment, and commercial production, with credits that include "Lilo & Stitch," "Mulan," "Brother Bear," "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame," and "Tarzan," along with major game franchises such as "Star Wars: Battlefront," "Marvel: Ultimate Alliance," and "Call of Duty."
As co-founder of Project Firefly Animation Studios, he helped lead a full-service animation company producing 2D and 3D content for clients including The Walt Disney Company, Universal Pictures, Universal Studios Creative, Sony Pictures Animation and American Greetings.
He's also a professor of animation at SCAD!
At SCAD, he specializes in advanced animation acting and performance, with an emphasis on character-driven storytelling.
"I try to bring the lessons I learned from working alongside incredible artists, animators, directors, and storytellers into the classroom, using stories from my own experiences to teach everything from technical craft to collaboration, and perseverance. I want my students to understand that animation is ultimately about understanding the "human experience" to create believable, engaging characters and performances. More than anything, I hope to pay forward the mentorship, opportunities, and generosity that helped shape my own career."
He encourages his students that to think like actors, storytellers, and filmmakers, and "to understand that to create the illusion of life, they first have to have a life: to observe, experience, connect with people, and bring those experiences into their work."
