We are expecting some inclement weather this weekend, which we think would be the perfect time to give our 35 shelter residents a little vacation. We're looking to send our pets to foster homes tonight and tomorrow so they can miss any of the wind and rain due our way. We'll provided you all the supplies you need for your sleepover, and we'll be ready to accept them back on Monday.

Early this morning, our team headed out to a home with 45 dogs needing to be removed after numerous issues with county enforcement. Most were not social, multiple attempted to bite out of fear, and sadly, one was already passing away when we arrived (we discovered from a relative that the pack had been regularly fighting for resources and multiple dogs have died as a result). They ranged in age from 12 weeks to 12 years, so many mixes of breeds, and probably similar branches of the family tree. This is a problem that was addressed more than once with this resident. Unfortunately, it took law enforcement and citations to yield a willingness to let go.

Tonight, 11 of these dogs have received medical care and baths for the first time and are safe in the care of our foster homes, vet, and shelter where they will no longer have to compete for survival. We still have five looking for foster homes, and once those are placed, we intend to return for more. These are NOT dogs that you can bring home and immediately introduce to your animals and small children. They can be handled without biting, just very scared (flight risks!) and will need a lot of time, work, love and PATIENCE. Foster application: https://bit.ly/cprdogfoster

Penelope loves pets! 💜

Penelope is a 2-year-old scruffy sweetheart with a HUGE heart and an even bigger personality! At 57 lbs, she’s the perfect combination of playful, goofy, affectionate, and absolutely convinced that wherever you are… that’s where she needs to be.

Penelope is potty trained, walks pretty well on a leash, and LOVES to play! Toys? Yes. Other dogs? YES! Her favorite people of all shapes and sizes? Of course!

She’s still working on remembering that when her people come home, four paws on the floor is the goal. She gets SO excited to see you that sometimes the excitement takes over! She’s also learning that cats are interesting little creatures who may not always appreciate her enthusiasm.

And then there’s Penelope’s favorite feature: she’s a certified Velcro dog. She will happily follow you from room to room, curl up beside you (or on you), and snuggle all night long if you let her. She doesn’t just want a home — she wants a person of her own.

Penelope does have one important request: she’d prefer her human to accompany her outside for potty breaks. Being left outside alone is simply unacceptable in her opinion, and she may even attempt a little fence-climbing adventure if she feels abandoned. She’s happiest when she’s with her people, where she feels safe and loved.

If you’re looking for a playful, cuddly, loyal best friend who will follow you everywhere and make sure you’re never lonely again, Penelope might just be your girl!

Hello all hoomans. It is I, the adorable cuddler of all times, Belgium. I love playing tug of war, especially when I think I’m winning, but in reality I’m not. Sitting on the couch? Blankie not necessary, I will be your blankie since I dont believe in personal space. I will watch you while in the shower, in case I need to save you. Getting up for any reason? I am your shadow. My love is ferocious. Did you just sneeze? I will give you kisses so you feel better.

Ice cubes? Yes please! Car rides? Yes, but I get nervous getting into your big truck but once I’m in, I adore it. Ears are flopping in the wind!

I do need a fenced in yard since in one small leap over a 4ft fence I fly! But I come right back, just needed to do a quick sweep of the perimeter.

I get along with all 4 of my foster siblings, big (and I mean BIG) and small. Foster mom’s goats refuse to play with me (rude) but I have become fast friends with Jake the Jerk Donkey, he gets me.

I’m hoping my furever family is out there. All applications are being accepted as long as they love snuggles, sharing the bed and long walks with lots of sniffs and treats.
