Woodstock Day School became a part of the community over 40 years ago, when it began as a small Preschool in the village of Woodstock. From these humble beginnings, our community has steadily nurtured and expanded the school to fill an important gap in the Hudson Valley, where options for a top tier end-to-end (Nursery - 12th Grade) progressive education have been limited, and changes in the regio

The first day of school! We were so glad to welcome students and families back to campus this morning for the first time since June - plenty of hugs, smiles, reunions, and friendships already in action.

We began the year gathered together as a whole community before heading into the day. Our younger students followed their teachers into their classrooms, ready to explore, play, and begin again - while Middle and Upper School students took some time to circle up together on the lawn, under the mountain.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for today’s WDS Resource Fair! It was a pleasure to welcome new faces, reconnect with families we haven’t seen for a few months, and open the doors to some of our freshly set-up classrooms.

Tomorrow marks the first official day of classes, and we can’t wait to have students back on campus and begin the school year together.

Labor Day is a chance to recognize the people whose work sustains our communities - and to remember that many of the rights, protections, and possibilities we now take for granted were built through the efforts of ordinary people working together.

At WDS, we know that meaningful change is rarely the work of one person alone. It grows from participation, shared responsibility, and the belief that each of us has a role to play in shaping the communities we belong to. This Labor Day, we honor the work that came before us and the people who continue that work today.

We’re wrapping up a full Set-Up Week of preparation, conversation, collaboration, and community-building with our faculty and staff - and we’re ready to welcome families and students back to campus!

We hope to see many of you at our Resource Fair on Tuesday, September 8, and we’re especially excited for the first day of school on Wednesday, September 9.

After a week spent reconnecting, planning, learning, and preparing together, we can’t wait to begin the 2026–27 school year with our full WDS community.

Set-up Week continues in earnest at WDS, with plenty of joyful whole-group moments (including singing a fruit song in the round) alongside smaller conversations and working sessions focused on advisories, teacher observation and professional growth, faculty summer reading, trip planning, and more.

It’s an extremely full week of learning, planning, reconnecting, and preparing together for the year ahead. We’re grateful for these days as a faculty community before welcoming students back to campus next week!

Staff and Faculty's first official day for the 2026–27 school year!

We were glad to be together again this morning - sharing food, reflecting on the values that guide us as a school, and welcoming some new faces to the WDS community.

We’re looking forward to many more shared moments throughout our set-up week, and especially to welcoming all of our students back into their classrooms next week. A new school year is almost here!

One last collection of fond memories from this summer's Summer Adventure program before we turn our attention to Set-Up Week!

Next week, our full faculty returns to campus to reconnect, prepare our classrooms, and get ready for the year ahead. We're looking forward to having everyone back together, and to welcoming students and families very soon.
