🌈 At Catskill Animal Sanctuary, compassion means standing up for ALL beings that face oppression, from our farmed animal residents to our LGBTQ+ staff, volunteers and community.

As the great Maya Angelou once said: "The truth is, one of us can't be free until everybody is free."

Darwin is a very playful, very affectionate young cow who thrives on attention. Since arriving at the Sanctuary, she’s grown more confident and social, with a mischievous streak that occasionally emerges! he especially loves being hugged, and will often wrap herself around a human’s torso in return! Within her herd, she acts as a big sister to twins Milton & Anya, and is especially affectionate towards Calvin, the oldest of the bunch. Darwin fits right in to the CAS family, and we couldn't imagine life without her here.

If you can relate to Ting’s love of music - congratulations, you’re more like a cow than you may have thought! Just like humans, cows visibly react to music, indicating that they have preferences the same way we all do. 💚

Hermione loves everyone, whether they’re humans or goats. But if she can’t find her goat friends, she will scream until a human helps her find them! Hermione makes sure that the herd is together and taken care of, but she is a sensitive girl herself.

Cricket is a very confident horse. She’s most known for bravely approaching groups of people by positioning herself right in the middle of the crowd! Underneath her boldness, she is gentle and affectionate and loves connecting with humans and trusted friends alike. Whether she’s demanding attention or (im)patiently waiting for her next snack, Cricket has a way of filling the pasture with her energy and charm. Everyone who meets her can’t help but fall in love!
