Project Sentinel

Project Sentinel We develop and promote fairness and equality of housing opportunities for all people. Project Sentinel processes more than 10,000 initial contacts annually.

We open over 1700 landlord tenant and community dispute resolution cases, handle over 600 housing discrimination complaints and investigations, counsel more than 750 homeowners each year and provide monthly workshops on a variety of topics including Homeownership, Tenant/Landlord and Fair Housing. Project Sentinel is a HUD-approved agency, providing a wide range of homeownership services including

individual pre-purchase, foreclosure prevention, and reverse mortgage counseling, as well as HUD homebuyer workshops. The agency also provides housing search help for seniors and others seeking below market rate rental opportunities. As a HUD-certified Fair Housing Initiatives Program, the agency provides support to cities and counties in developing their “Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing,” and a wide array of technical assistance to property management professionals/owners and local municipalities in the area of housing discrimination. We publish the semi-weekly newspaper column, Rent Watch, in major California newspapers and operate a Housing Hotline, (888)FAIRHOUsing. Project Sentinel has offices located in Fremont, Gilroy, Modesto, Redwood City, and Santa Clara. We also provide Fair Housing services in Monterey County out of our Gilroy office.

🏡 April is Fair Housing Month 🏡

It’s a reminder that everyone deserves equal access to housing, no matter what their race, background, religion, gender, disability, or family status.

Housing discrimination still happens, but we’re here to help people know their rights and take action.

This month, we’re proud to receive Fair Housing Proclamations from multiple cities recognizing the importance of this work.

Because at the end of the day, it’s simple: everyone deserves a home.
