Congratulations to Chanda Dharap, winner of the Multiple Entries raffle prize of $25 in the 58th Annual Members show of the Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society. Each artist that entered more than one painting in the show was entered into the raffle. Chanda’s lovely painting, Raindrops on My Windshield, is in the show

Thursday, October 8, 2026 (10am-2pm) - Come join us for plein air painting at the Presidio Main Post and Tunnel Tops, 210 Lincoln Blvd., San Francisco, CA. Paint views of the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge, historic Presidio buildings, vegetation, playground and picnic area with tables and umbrellas. FREE ART DEMO TODAY! The Santa Clara Valley Watercolor Society (SCVWS) invites you to a free drawing and sketching demonstration by accomplished artist Robert Semans at the Prospect Center, Grace Room, 19848 Prospect Rd, Saratoga, CA, on October 4, 2026 from 2:15 - 4:00 PM. Robert grew up in Concord, CA and credits high school art teacher Marjorie Silva with introducing him to contour drawing and oil painting. Marjorie taught him that “the job of the artist is to distill the essence” of a subject. Robert believes this is a profound truth because it reveals the very heart of the artistic process. Later, Robert studied in San Jose with Maynard Stewart, a gifted painter influenced by painter Frank Vincent DuMond and in Italy with the well-known teacher Nera Simi, daughter of artist Filadelfo Simi. Robert feels fortunate to have been imbued with the concepts of the Classical Tradition from two separate sources: DuMond and Simi. Robert works in multiple genres, including formal portraiture, oil, pastel, and various drawing media. To see his exceptional work, visit www.robertsemansfineart.
