🎥 Danville San Ramon Rotary Interact Member Spotlight: Zoya Iqbal

Sometimes one volunteer experience can introduce you to a cause that stays with you.

Meet Zoya Iqbal, a senior at California High School who has been actively involved with Interact since her freshman year.

In this week’s spotlight, Zoya shares how four years of service have shaped her perspective — and how an Interact volunteer opportunity unexpectedly led to her becoming an advocate for foster youth through Fostering Wishes.

Thank you, Zoya, for sharing your story and for continuing to make a difference both through Interact and beyond!

Another great meeting with the Danville San Ramon Rotary Club! 💙💛

At our October 6 meeting, we were pleased to welcome Kristin Connelly, Contra Costa County Clerk-Recorder-Registrar, as our featured speaker!

Kristin shared important insights into her office’s work, including protecting election integrity, expanding access to voting, keeping election systems secure, and ensuring fair and accessible elections for our community.

We also enjoyed hearing from our greeter, Alan Love, learning more about our fellow Rotarians, sharing updates on upcoming service projects, and of course, our always-fun Marble Pull!

Thank you to Kristin for joining us and sharing such valuable information, and to all our members for another wonderful meeting!

Interested in learning more about Rotary and how we’re making a difference locally and globally? We’d love to connect!

One last Bounty Garden build day – and what a great one it was! 🌱

Our Danville San Ramon Rotary volunteers teamed up with a fantastic group of students and volunteers from Diablo Valley College, along with Sandra and Michael McDonald from the Bounty Garden Foundation, to complete five planter bed enclosures.

Our crew assembled the main panels, attached 30 window trims, placed the finished enclosures onto the planter beds and tested the removable windows to make sure everything fit properly.

Thanks to great preparation, detailed instructions from the Diablo Woodworkers Club and an amazing group of volunteers, we finished everything in just over two hours!

A special thank you to our Rotary crew – Terry Church and his son Kevin, Jose Barron, Pooja Ahuja, Erik Yewell, Allen Mueller, John Swearingen, and Dennis from the Rossmoor Rotary Club – and our DVC volunteers Gia Valdivia, Siya Majymdar, Jeff Buie, Simone Leto, Torben Wihlbiller, Lucien Smarius and Emitis Malek.

We’re especially excited about this new connection with Diablo Valley College and loved seeing Rotary members and DVC volunteers working side-by-side for such a worthwhile community project.

Other teams will be completing the remaining enclosures over the next few weeks, with a dedication event planned for the spring. We can’t wait to see the finished garden!

Thank you to everyone who gave their time, energy and talents to help make this happen. This is what People of Action looks like. 💙💛

🎥 Danville San Ramon Rotary Member Spotlight: Dale Corpus

This time, we turned the tables.

Dale is usually the one asking the questions for our Member Spotlight series, but this week, fellow Social Media Committee member Katie Lance took over the interviewer’s chair and put Dale in the spotlight.

From showing up to his first Rotary meeting not quite knowing what to expect, to finding a genuine sense of community and belonging, Dale shares what’s kept him engaged and why Rotary has become such a meaningful part of his life. He also shares a Rotary experience that made the impact of service very real for him, and what he’s discovered after interviewing so many of our Rotarians and Interact students.

And yes... apparently the free lunch works. 😄

Take a few minutes and get to know the guy who’s usually on the other side of the camera.

Curious about Rotary? Come meet us in person and see what we’re all about.
