The Guide Dogs for the Blind Danville Puppy Raising Club recently had our second outing to the San Jose Airport. We also had raisers and dogs from the Fremont and Berkeley clubs join us. We had patient airport es**rts to guide us through a busy terminal, security screening, and down to the gate to board an empty Alaska Airlines plane. It was quite the adventure, but the teams did well.
TSA was very accommodating, patient, but thorough. Our big Golden Retriever, “Lego” did not quite make it through the screening tunnel without his tail touching one of the sides and setting off the alarm. After several attempts with this happy Golden, the agent elected to do a “pat down”. Needless to say, both agent and dog thoroughly enjoyed it!
Thank you once again to Alaska Airlines who allowed us to board their plane yet again before it was cleaned and sent on its way.
It was another wonderful experience for teams as they prepare for their dog’s recall back to the Guide Dogs for the Blind for formal training.
