Applicants must be current university students majoring or minoring in music.

Performing with SMART Orchestra is not required, but if you’d like to join us on stage too, that’s definitely an added bonus! 🎻

Great connections and exciting possibilities ahead! 🎶🤝

Today, SMART Orchestra Board President Lindsey Combs, Artistic Director Dr. David Cole, and Executive Director Jeremy Sustaita attended the San Marcos Business Expo to connect with local businesses, strengthen community relationships, and explore potential partnerships and sponsorships.

We loved meeting so many of the people and organizations that help make San Marcos such a vibrant community. We’re excited about the opportunities ahead as SMART Orchestra continues building connections between music, business, and community.

🎶 Composer Spotlight: Adrienne Inglis 🎶

We’re excited to share the first work from our recent SMART Sessions performance featuring music by our contributing composers!

First up is “Tango” for Woodwind Quintet, composed by Adrienne Inglis. This lively and engaging work brought together five of our SMART musicians for a fantastic chamber music performance. 💃🎵

What a fantastic Session today! A huge thank you to all of our performers for sharing their talent and bringing these works to life.

We are especially grateful to all of our contributing composers for sharing their music with SMART Orchestra and our community. It is an honor to provide a space where new music can be heard, celebrated, and enjoyed. ❤️🎼

Congratulations to Betsy Faust Alkazin, who is taking center stage as the Fiddler in Fiddler on the Roof in New Braunfels! From performing with SMART Orchestra to bringing this iconic role to life in musical theater, we're proud to see her sharing her talent with audiences throughout our community.

If you're planning to see Fiddler on the Roof, be sure to cheer her on. We know she'll be fantastic!

Today, the SMART Orchestra leadership team is spending more than four hours together at the San Marcos Public Library planning for Season 18.

From concert logistics and programming to community outreach, musician experience, and organizational growth, every discussion centered on one goal: making this our strongest season yet.

We are incredibly grateful for a leadership team that is willing to invest their time, energy, and passion into serving our musicians and our community. Great things do not happen by accident. They happen because dedicated people come together with a shared vision.

Season 18 is taking shape, and we cannot wait to share what is ahead. Thank you to everyone who continues to help make SMART Orchestra stronger every year.
