Meeting 2 (Sept 15)--- Dr. Darren Proppe Research Coordinator at Wild Basin Preserve; Topic: TBA

Meeting 3 (Sept 29)--- Anna Matthews- Science Coordinator - Oaks and Prairies Joint Venture; topic: oaks and prairie joint venture

Meeting 4 (Oct 13)--- Lee Burton

Meeting 5 (Oct 27)---- REU presentation from Lissy and Kianna

Meeting 6 (Nov 10)--- Jennifer Cordova- Wildlife Specialist III- Conservation on Black-footed Ferret in the state of Arizona. (ZOOM)

Meeting 7 (Dec 1)--- Paul Crump- Herpetologist, Nongame and Rare Species Program; Topic TBD

At our chapter meetings, we present a list of upcoming events like: research opportunities, camping/hiking trips, annual fundraising events, public outreach, hands-on animal activities and so much more! We frequently have guest speakers who present on a wide variety of topics ranging from how to get a wildlife job, and current research on wildlife in the state of Texas. We always welcome new members from any major, so message us or come on by!

Hello Wildlifers,

On November 8th, from 2-6PM, we’ll be having our Minorities in Wildlife Potluck: A Multicultural Festival to celebrate diversity in the wildlife field!

We will have the privilege of hosting 4 guest speakers who will share what it’s like to be in the wildlife field as a minority. Our speakers will begin at 2:30 PM.

Around 3-3:30 PM, 𝓜𝓲𝓼𝓼 𝓣𝓱𝓲𝓷𝓰, a local alt-rock and blues band, will perform a lovely set of blues in the intermission between our two sets of speakers that you wouldn’t want to miss.

There will be a variety of activities to partake in throughout the event as well. Including:
- A TWS run photobooth
- Crafts
- Games
- Booths hosted by fellow student orgs at Texas State
- and a potluck-style feast.

Community is an important pillar of The Wildlife Society at Texas State, and we hope to cultivate that in our potluck. We (the officer team) will be sharing our own cultural dishes, and we hope our members can share the delicacies of their cultures as well. Members would earn 3pts if contributing and can reach out to any officer or DM us if interested.

Hello members!!

Our Fall bake sale is locked in for October 26th from 2-4PM and will take place at the Quad!!

We will be selling all sorts of treats from a variety of cookies, horchata, some chocolate-y banana bread, and more.

There’s also an opportunity to earn some points if you donate a baked good. Reach out to Alexia or Zach if you’d like to give to the cause!

Hi Members!

Here’s the recap for our 3rd member meeting where we had Aidan Flores with Delta Waterfowl as our speaker.

Aidan shared about the goals of Delta Waterfowl and a couple of their programs, one which we participate in!

At this meeting we also announced a couple of things: •Project Gecko Grid.
•Minorities in Wildlife Potluck which will take place November 8th from 2pm-6pm (Not 1pm**). More info to come on that.

Our second member meeting is next week, September 23rd.

We’ll be having our first speaker of the Fall semester, Romey Swanson! He is the executive director to Devils River Conservancy and will be speaking on the work that they do!

Hey Bobcats!!

Our first meeting of Fall will be on September 9th at 5:30PM in the Family & Consumer Science Building in room 158.

We will go over a couple things at the meeting:

• What The Wildlife Society at Texas State is about
•Introducing the officer team for the ‘26-‘27 school year
• A few words from Dr.Fritts
•And upcoming events!

The flyer attached is for the first event this Fall. Our volleyball tournament next Saturday!
We’ll go over more details for this during the meeting, but, if you’re interested, leave your calendar open!
