The Board held their '' In and Out '' breakfast at the Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort in Avila Beach. We said goodbye to the out going board members and thanked them for a job well done while welcoming our new board members of the 2026-2027 season. Also, it was a great opportunity to sing happy birthday to Rosh, our out going Programs team member and thank her for working so hard to put many excellent presentations together! We will be taking a break for the month of July and starting up again in August, with Nadine and Jody as co-presidents.

The SLO Newcomers had an over-the-top end the 2025-2026 season luncheon held at the Sycamore Mineral Springs Resort Springs Resort in Avila Beach! We had a full house, said '' goodbye'' to the previous board members and welcomed in the new 2026-2027 incoming board members! Our end of the season charity donation was voted on by the members and this year's recipient was the SLO Food bank of almost two thousand dollars! Our raffle prizes were a big hit and we would like to thank San Luis Music and arts Festival ( part of Festival Mozaic ) for their generous donation of two tickets each to the Bodytraffic dance performance, Eric Whitace modern composer performance and Scott Yoo leading the Orchestra concert at Cal Poly! The happy winner of this was Beth did not purchase any raffle tickets but won this on the complimentary raffle ticket that each member is given when they attend the luncheon! Also a big shout-out and thank you to Luna Red restaurant for their generous donation of the gift certificate for a lunch/brunch, to Woodstone Market Place for their run, bike or walk breakfast, lunch or dinner certificate, to Escape at Margarita Adventures for four people and to Brown Butter Cookie Company for their donation of cookies! We enjoyed an excellent lunch followed by a presentation by Lloyd Tanner, the executive director, of Festival Mosaic which celebrates the arts, culture and community that brings people together through diversity and experiences.

Twelve members of the Winos group gathered on Memorial Day for a wonderful wine tasting at the beautiful Center of Effort Winery in Arroyo Grande. We were welcomed with a splash of their excellent rose, featuring a delightful hint of grapefruit, and enjoyed sharing a delicious charcuterie board together. Our lovely host, Sierra, shared the fascinating history of Edna Valley wines. The region's wines are exceptional because the cool breeze keep's temperature's lower, allowing the grapes a longer growing season and creating outstanding flavor. We also learned about the famous 1982 '' Judgement Of Paris '' competition, where California wines were compared to French wines. Edna Valley Chardonnay won against the French wines! It was a wonderful afternoon filled with great wine, laughter, and friendship. Two ladies joined the wine membership, we had one member that had already joined , so all our wine tastings became free! What a fantastic way to enjoy Memorial Day!
