beef industry! We also try to partner with our county affiliates (SLO County Cattlemen/Cattlewomen) as often as possible to help with events.

We are a group of Cal Poly students who meet monthly and participate in activities on the county, state, and national level in order to play an active role in something that is important to the welfare of this nation--the U.S. The California Cattlemen's Association (CCA) helps to provide us with many unique opportunities that further our education and offer great networking opportunities.

As a committee we play an active role in Cal Poly's annual Bull Test and Animal Science department. The CCA sponsors a number of activities for YYC members at the State Capital in Sacramento. For example, we attended the Ag Day Legislative Breakfast and the CCA Youth Congress this past year. Both occasions allowed us to meet and speak with our representatives to get a better idea of the way our state government works. Attending State and National Conventions are an integral part of participation, as these events allow us to keep up to date on issues while making industry connections and meeting other Young Cattlemen. Extra-curricular activities aside, we simply have a great group of people who like to have a great time. We are always accepting new members and would love to see you at our next meeting!

Congratulations to the San Luis Obispo Cattlewomen’s Scholarship recipients! 🎉 Last week, some of our YCA members were awarded scholarships at the annual SLOCCW banquet. We are incredibly proud of their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the agriculture industry. Wishing them continued success as they pursue their educational and career goals!

Cal Poly YCA had a great time at Farm City Nights!

We brought a calf, goat and some roping lessons to give the community a hands-on look at what we do. It was a fun night connecting with everyone and sharing our passion for agriculture.

Our April YCA meeting was a great success! We enjoyed a delicious dinner, followed by an engaging and informative presentation from our guest speaker, a Cal Poly Alumni, Ben Higgins from Hearst Ranch. He shared valuable insight into the operations at Hearst Ranch, including his experiences working in Sacramento and his involvement with the California Cattlemen’s Association, giving us a closer look at the broader cattle industry.
The evening was both educational and enjoyable, and we’re grateful to Mr. Higgins for taking the time to speak with us. We look forward to seeing everyone at the banquet in May!

Our February YCA meeting was a great success!
We enjoyed an excellent dinner thanks to the BBQ boys, followed by an engaging and informative presentation from our guest speaker, Nicole Nicholson. Nicole is a Cal Poly YCA alumni and Cattlewomen. She shared valuable insight into the San Luis Obispo Cattle Women and highlighted the San Luis Obispo Cattle Women scholarship opportunity. The evening concluded with a fun and interactive roping game that was a blast for everyone involved. We look forward to seeing everyone at our Spring meeting!
