"Silly guy #2: French Bulldog JP enjoying his weekly laser treatment. JP came to us as a paraplegic, referred by One Planet Rescue and uses a cart on slippery surfaces. However with the weekly laser therapy plus acupuncture treatments from Dr Stacie, JP has regained much mobility. JP receives weekly laser on his thoracic spine, neck and both shoulders at each session.

Poppy Seed is one of the lucky ones. šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ˜‰šŸ¶
Just days ago, this beautiful 43-pound, pocket-sized pittie was facing an imminent euthanasia deadline at the shelter. Her future looked uncertain until one dedicated volunteer, Amie, stepped forward and offered to foster her. Thanks to Amie’s compassionate heart, and to my dear friend Dawn of San Jose Animal Advocates, who tirelessly advocates for these innocent souls, Poppy Seed was given the second chance she so desperately deserved.
I had the pleasure of meeting Poppy Seed on Thursday. The very next day, she moved into Amie & Lane's home, where she immediately found comfort lying beside their own recently rescued San Jose shelter dog—another former death-row pup whose life was also saved through kindness and determination. šŸ˜‡šŸ™
Poppy Seed had been returned after an adoption that simply wasn’t the right fit. The sudden transition, unfamiliar surroundings, and overwhelming environment left her feeling anxious and reactive around strangers and children. But as so often happens, once given patience, understanding, and a safe place to decompress, her true personality began to emerge.
It's only been a few days, and Poppy Seed is already blossoming into an incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate companion. Every day she gains more confidence, seeks more connection, and shows everyone around her just how much love she has to give.
Stories like Poppy Seed’s are powerful reminders that many shelter dogs don’t need to be ā€œfixedā€ā€”they simply need time, patience, and a chance. One person willing to step up can truly mean the difference between life and death.
Thank you, Amie, for opening your home and heart. Thank you, Dawn, for never stopping your advocacy. And thank you to everyone who supports rescue and believes that every life is worth saving.
Welcome to your new beginning, sweet Poppy Seed. ā¤ļø

Minion — now lovingly renamed Chonk — got his second chance after leaving Silicon Valley Animal Control Authority.

A week earlier, we had gone to meet him to see if he might be a good fit as a foster for Blair’s pack, which includes two senior dogs. While Minion was absolutely adorable, his youthful energy felt like it might be a little too much for the older crew, so that day another dog, Jumbo Joe, was chosen to head out instead. (See his rescue story in earlier posts)

But Chonk’s story wasn’t over.

Around the same time, Boggles' family — who had recently welcomed another one of our rescues, the sweet pit mix Twix from San Jose Animal Care Center — mentioned they had room for one more dog, ideally a playful companion for Boggles. As luck would have it, Boggles' mom had already seen Minion’s post and texted me asking about him. I had just met this charming little guy and told her I’d love to help arrange a meet-and-greet.

So on a rainy Saturday morning, we all met up. Despite the gloomy weather, the introduction couldn’t have gone much better — and just like that, Minion left with us and started his new chapter.

Now officially known as "Chonk", he has already been winning hearts. He appears to be potty trained (he intentionally asked to go outside for a big p*e), sleeps beautifully in his crate, and according to Matt, may be ā€œthe best dog we’ve ever had on leashā€ during his morning walk. He’s settled in quickly, hasn’t tried marking indoors overnight, and has noticeably calmed down.

As for the resident dogs, it’s been a work in progress — as these things often are.

Twix has struggled the most, showing some resource guarding and growling, particularly around Matt, though there have already been small signs of progress as she’s beginning to relax more around Chonk.

Boggles, on the other hand, initially surprised everyone by being an incredible teacher and showing zero issues with Chonk. A few days later, after some playful behavior from Chonk, Boggles' tolerance wore thin and tensions escalated, so management is still very much in place.

Even with the bumps, the family absolutely adores him and is committed to giving everyone time to adjust while working with their trainer to help make things successful.

And honestly? Chonk is worth it. He’s an easygoing, fairly lazy boy with a sweet temperament, great crate manners, and a whole lot of charm. Everyone is already very attached to him.

Stay tuned for more Chonk updates (and hopefully more photos soon).

🐾 Ziggy & Willow – Bonded Pair of Poodle Mixes 🐾

Are you looking for a ready-made family? Meet Ziggy and Willow, a charming pair of poodle mixes who are looking for a forever home where they can stay together.

Their Story 🐾🐾
Both Ziggy and Willow are brave survivors who were found roaming the streets before being rescued by One Planet Rescue. While they had rough starts, they have blossomed in their foster homes into social, affectionate ā€œshadowsā€ who love their humans deeply. These two white, fluffy best friends are the perfect size and temperament to bring joy to any home.

Meet the Pair šŸ©·šŸ’™

Willow: 1-year-old, 12-lb poodle mix. She is a brave girl who transformed from a fearful stray into a lap-loving sweetheart who falls asleep in your arms. She can be a bit reserved with new people and takes a little longer to warm up.
Ziggy: 2-year-old, 10-lb poodle mix. He warms up quickly and becomes a social butterfly once he knows you’re his person.

Why You’ll Love Them šŸ˜šŸ˜

Fully house-trained with great house manners
Wonderful with children, cats, and other dogs
Low-shedding
Comfortable with baths, nail trims, and teeth brushing
Enjoy daily walks and playing with their neighborhood friends

The Perfect Home šŸ˜‡šŸ§æ
Ziggy and Willow are a bonded pair who thrive on companionship. They would love a home where they can play together and have a human to ā€œhang withā€ and follow around the house. If you have room in your heart (and on your couch) for this duo, they are ready to start their next chapter with you.

Meet Jumbo Joe (aka JoJo) 🐾

We’re a little behind on sharing rescues, but this sweet boy is worth the wait.

We originally went to SVACA to meet a dog at risk of euthanasia. Although it wasn’t the right fit for our foster, we’re happy to share that pup is now safe with another foster—we’ll tell that story soon ā¤ļø

While there, we spotted 7+ yr old JoJo quietly sitting behind the glass. He had been overlooked for a while, and due to his age, we knew his time could be limited.

We couldn’t leave him behind.

JoJo (formerly ā€œJumbo Joeā€!) went home with Blair, but it quickly became clear he needed a cat-free home. Now he’s thriving with his amazing foster Tina, living happily with her beagle mix Pi Dan & housemate's lab mix Tucker and learning what it means to be loved.

He’ll be available for adoption soon—stay tuned for updates on this special boy 🐶✨

Happy, happy news we’ve been waiting for… ✨
Tito has officially found his furever home! šŸ¾ā¤ļø

This journey was anything but short—Tito was in our program for nearly two years, supported by so many incredible people who believed in him every step of the way. It truly took a village to get this handsome boy from the shelter to the life he deserves.

There are so many stories to tell, but today I want to share a few special words from Maddy—the one who helped change Tito’s fate from the very beginning—and we’ll close with a heartfelt note from his new mama, Amanda. šŸ”šŸ’•

Maddy:

"Tito was a shelter favorite—full of love, cuddles, and those unforgettable piggy noises. He even helped shy dogs like Georgie come out of their shells. When shelter life wasn’t right for him, I fostered him and saw just how sweet and easygoing he was at home. It truly took a village to support him along the way, and I couldn’t be happier that he’s finally with a mama who understands him and gives him all the love he deserves. šŸ¾ā¤ļø"

Amanda:

ā€œIn a season that felt heavy, Tito found me—and brought the light back with him.
The gentlest heart, in a body the world too often misunderstands. And yet, all he knows how to do is love—purely, deeply, without hesitation.
Some love heals you quietly… and changes everything all at once.ā€

Wishing Tito a lifetime filled with love, cuddles, and all the happiness he so deserves. šŸ¾ā¤ļø
