Twix was given a final date at a San Jose shelter — not because he’s aggressive, not because he can’t live with other dogs, cats, or kids… but simply because time ran out.
Twix is an 8-year-old bully with the softest eyes and the most loyal heart. For seven long months, he kept his calm, loving spirit at the shelter, patiently waiting to be chosen.
Because of his steady, gentle demeanor, he was selected as an ambassador at major adoption events, including the San Jose Airport and the San Jose Super Bowl Fan Fest. He represented shelter dogs beautifully.
He’s a Tails & Trails favorite, happily walking 3–4 easy miles on a loose leash. Strollers, bikes, trucks, wildlife — nothing fazes him. He’s composed, content, and simply loves being by your side. He’s also been wonderful for baths and grooming.
Twix has manageable medical needs: skin allergies (already improving on medication and a hydrolyzed diet), hip dysplasia with arthritis, and a mild heart murmur to monitor. With supervision and a little dog-proofing, he thrives.
This weekend, I had the pleasure of meeting Twix with a potential foster family. The first meeting with their dog, Boggles, was rocky — but they didn’t give up. A second introduction in Boggles’ backyard changed everything.
Since then, Twix has shown what a happy little boy he truly is. He’s incredibly sweet with the children, completely non-reactive to Boggles’ occasional snaps, walks like a dream on leash, and even met a cat — responding gently and respectfully.
He’s already been seen by our vet, and we’ll be consulting an orthopedic surgeon soon. His skin is improving beautifully, and we have no doubt the rest will heal with a soft bed, consistency, and lots of kisses.
From a final date… to a fresh start.
Stay tuned for more on sweet Twix as we continue to learn about this very good boy. ❤️🐾

Some of you might remember Lil Mama — she was saved from death row early last year. Lucky for her (and honestly for all of us), Julie (her foster mama) who stepped up to help us save her life, and her brother Chief realized they couldn’t imagine life without her… so she became a permanent part of the family 🤍
I feel so grateful that I still get to visit her while her mom is at work. We spend our time taking sweet neighborhood walks through the beautiful rose garden, soaking up every moment together.
Spending my birthday with this special girl today was the greatest gift. 🎂🐾
My biggest wish? That every dog in the shelter finds a warm, loving home and gets the happy life they so deeply deserve. 🐶🏡💕

Some of you might remember Moose red-listed for euthanasia simply because of an old fracture. 💔
Thanks to incredible San Jose animal advocates who reached out to rescues, we were able to secure a temporary foster and save his life just in time.
After reviewing his X-rays and consulting with the orthopedic surgeon, we truly believed amputation might be the best option to relieve his pain. But wow… the power of love is real.
With a daily routine of Phycox, Glycoflex 2, Myos muscle formula, and a soft, cozy bed, this beautiful boy is thriving. 🥰 He’s showing no signs of pain, so we’re holding off on surgery for now.
Endless gratitude to Pam and Richard for opening their home and hearts to now foster Moose while we continue learning more about him and prepare him for adoption.
Second chances look good on you, Moose. 💛 adoptdontshop

For the past several years, I’ve used my birthday to raise funds for causes close to my heart — usually for animal rescue, whether through One Planet Rescue or our incredible rescue partners. Saving voiceless lives has always been my passion.
But this year feels different.
This year, my heart is back home.
For 47 years, my people have endured hardship, injustice, and unimaginable pain. And in just the last month alone, tens of thousands have been killed by the brutal regime. Families have been shattered. Children have lost parents. Mothers have lost sons. Many have lost the breadwinner of their family overnight. Others sit in prisons, their futures uncertain.
The weight of this grief is overwhelming.
For my birthday this year, I’m asking you to stand with me in supporting the families who are struggling just to survive. I want to raise funds for the poor families who have been supported by Moms Against Poverty throughout the years — families who now need us more than ever.
This isn’t political. It’s human.
It’s about helping a mother feed her children.
It’s about helping a family keep a roof over their heads.
It’s about showing that even in the darkest times, compassion still exists.
If you’ve ever supported my birthday fundraisers before — thank you. Your generosity has saved countless lives. This year, I humbly ask you to help me extend that same love to my own community during one of the most devastating times in our history.
No amount is too small. Every dollar is a reminder that they are not forgotten.
Thank you for standing with me.
Thank you for caring.
And thank you for turning my birthday into something that truly matters.
With love,
Farah Ravon

We in rescue truly live for updates like these!

"Hi Farah, just checking in to give you an Archie update. He’s still doing great and we are so thankful to have him! He is pretty much always by my side, including while I am working (he quietly rests while I am talking to patients over video). We walk about 3 miles a day, and he is maintaining his weight at 13 lbs. I’m sure he wishes I fed him more treats, as this boy is very food focused! Here he is after he went to the groomer for the first time, and a silly picture with me and Joshua.

Thank you for letting us adopt Archie. He has been life changing. ❤️"

Thank you, Judy and Joshua, for giving Archie the beautiful life he truly deserves—especially after being surrendered by his family. I couldn’t be happier for him or more grateful for the two of you!

Come meet me! 😍🐾If you’re looking for a fun-loving best friend to share adventures and snuggles, I’m your girl. I’m sweet as can be with other dogs, and I do great with cats and kids, too!
I’m just under two years old, about 55 pounds, spayed, and fully vaccinated. My first couple of years weren’t the easiest, but I’m ready for a fresh start—and I know the best is yet to come, especially if it’s with you. 🐾💛

Here at , beautiful connections are made. People fall completely in love with dogs, and dogs create unbreakable bonds with each other.
To celebrate these joyful relationships, we’re sharing some of our favorite OPR moments.

Lil Brent quickly became a volunteer favorite during his first stay at the San Jose shelter. He thrived with enrichment, loved doggy day outs, and showed just how special he is—easygoing on trails, happy riding in the car, eager to explore, and always motivated by treats!
Volunteers adored him, and it was no surprise when he was adopted in May 2025. But his happy ending didn’t last…
In January 2026, Lil Brent was found alone on the streets. A good Samaritan took him in for four days, reporting that he was sweet, well-behaved, and friendly with her male dog. Despite doing nothing wrong, Lil Brent was returned to the shelter—an abrupt and confusing change after already losing his home.
Back in the shelter environment, Lil Brent struggled. Kenneling stress and the use of a catch pole, a tool meant to protect staff but often deeply traumatic for stressed dogs, shook his trust and took a visible toll. What the shelter setting showed did not reflect who Lil Brent truly is though and sadly shelter staff quickly made the choice to put him on the euthanasia list.
Fortunately, volunteers knew the real Lil Brent. Around them, Lil Brent remained affectionate, playful, and joyful—especially when splashing around with the water hose in the yard. He greeted familiar faces with happiness, soaked up attention, and showed the same loving, eager-to-learn personality that made him a favorite the first time around.
After being abandoned by his former owners, surviving time on the streets, and experiencing the shock of a sudden return to the shelter, Lil Brent understandably needed grace and time to decompress. Even so, he continued to show resilience, warmth, and a deep desire to connect with people he trusts. Thanks to dedicated advocates and a foster offer, Lil Brent was pulled from the shelter and saved just in time and we have to thank for it! 🙏

🆘🆘🆘FOSTER HOME NEEDER FOR MOOSE ...

Saved just in time! Currently safe in a temporary foster care, Moose’s life nearly came to an end at the San Jose Animal Care Center.

This sweet, handsome shepherd mix came dangerously close to being euthanized despite being everything you’d hope for in a furry companion.

Moose walks with a limp, and radiographs of his rear left leg revealed abnormalities consistent with an old injury or a possible developmental condition. Even so, Moose remains gentle, affectionate, and eager to connect, never letting his discomfort define him.

Despite everything stacked against him, Moose continued to show just how wonderful of a dog he truly is.

Thankfully, because of dedicated volunteers sharing thSan Jose Animal Advocatesriences, photos, and videos through , Moose ended up being one of the lucky ones.

Thanks to Charlotte & George who have fostered and adopted several of our rescues throughout the years, and offered to temp foster him, we were able tFarah Ravonm the shelter just in time. 🙏🙏

He is currently safe in their home - with alumni Edie who they foster-failed several years ago 😁- although Edie is not happy having another dog around -- until we find a foster home where he can finally rest, heal, and receive the care and patience he deserves.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who shared Moose’s story, helped network him, and made & honored their pledges to support his rescue and his upcoming appointment with a vet specialist. Your compassion and action truly saved his life. 🙏😇🐾

Moose is a special dog who came far too close to losing his life. With time, care, and love, his future is full of promise, and he finally has the chance he always deserved.

MEET WILLOW 🐾🐾 ... a brave little survivor now searching for the safety, stability, and love she’s deserved all along. Willow was found roaming the street, later caught and taken to the shelter. She wasn’t microchipped and no one came forward, so once her stray hold ended, One Planet Rescue stepped up to give her the second chance she needed. Willow is now thriving in a loving foster home. What started as fear and hiding has slowly transformed into trust — she now seeks affection, takes comfort in her people, and has even fallen asleep in her foster’s lap. Some amazing things about Willow: - Zero accidents indoors — she clearly had a home at some point - Dog-friendly — she adores playing with her foster dog sibling, and has met many large and small dogs on-leash with great success. - Soft, gentle temperament - Smart, resilient, and learning quickly - Walks great on a leash — she is enjoying long daily walks and loves meeting new friends along the way. - Low shed - she doesn’t seem to need regular haircuts. - Cat-tested - she has met a local friendly cat and did not show much interest - No food aggression & she eats well - Sleeps through the night Willow is young, and that means she is extremely playful and loves to find toys and chew on things. She is easily redirected to chew on appropriate items. Because she feels safest with another confident dog by her side, Willow is hoping for a home with another friendly dog to help guide her as she continues to bloom. Another option would be to have her human by her side most of the time (retired or work from home?) She’s ideally looking for a foster-to-adopt home — someone patient, kind, and willing to move at her pace. If Willow's story speaks to you and you’d like to help her write her next chapter, please reach out to One Planet Rescue or better yet, fill out this application: www.tinyurl.com/AdoptMeNow

💖 ̈ Meet Chanel, a 2 year old shepherd mix 💖 ̈

Just as her name implies, Chanel is a high-quality dog- beautiful, affectionate, and truly special inside and out. She’s not just a pretty face though, Chanel is incredibly intelligent and sweet too She thrives on companionship, loves cuddles and praise, and enjoys quality time with her humans. She has a lovely balance of playful energy and calm, settle-down moments that make her a joy to have around.

Despite a rough start in life, Chanel has shown remarkable resilience. After being abandoned and living in difficult conditions, she still greets the world with love and an eager heart. In foster care, she’s made impressive progress in a short time — learning basic commands like sit and stay, and showing herself to be crate trained, potty trained, easily redirectable, and very treat-motivated. Training with Chanel is fun, rewarding, and full of tail wags.

Chanel gets along well with other dogs and would do best in a home committed to continuing her training and helping her build confidence. Since she’s still working on impulse control around food, supervision with young children is recommended. Overall, she’s an adaptable, loving girl ready to form a deep bond with her future family.

Chanel has a sister, Nova, who is also seeking her forever family. Chanel is available for adoption either with Nova or on her own — and she would love nothing more than a safe, loving home to call her own.

If you or someone you know is looking for a loyal, affectionate companion with a truly special spark, Chanel may be the perfect match.

Please reach out to One Planet Rescue to learn more about adopting Chanel.
