Meet Catfish! 😻🐠😂 He’s the most affectionate, long-legged Shih Tzu mix we know—and he’s ready to snuggle his way right into your heart.

At about 8 months old and 14 lbs, Catfish has that puppy sweetness but is already showing off his easygoing nature. He’s not much of a shedder, and he’s lived happily with both cats and dogs, so he knows how to share his love around.

If you’re looking for a velcro companion who’s equal parts playful and cuddly, Catfish might just be your guy.

On National Dog Day, we usually share the fun part — your dogs curled up on the couch, on hikes, at the beach, living their best lives in the homes you’ve given them. And we love that. Keep sending us those photos. Sometimes they’re the very thing that keeps us going. 🏖️🫶🏽🐶

But today we want to show you something different and our daily reality. 💔

Meet these two. They’re safe now, and they’ll be back at Thrive HQ soon — but this is where they came from. Abandonment sucks.

Swipe through to see the actual pleas that came in from the shelter. They’re hard to read. They’re supposed to be — this is the reality shelter workers are facing every day, doing everything they can with resources that keep running out. No matter how hard they work, they are out of room.

This is why Thrive keeps doing what we do. It’s why we can’t stop pulling dogs, finding them fosters, and finding them homes. But we can only keep saying yes if we have the resources to back it up. 🙏🏽

They are just too much cuteness.
Mercury is out of this world. 🪐 she’s learning how to walk on a leash, she loves to play with her friends here at Thrive. At 7lbs and 3.5 months she will be small but mighty.
Pinot has the longest tail that does not stop wagging. He’s a smart little Jack Russel (maybe) mix. He’s 10lbs and about 3.5 months.
We would love for them to find their forever homes. ♥️🏡♥️

Meet Blue, a recent amputee who needed an exit from the shelter — we were happy to oblige. He’s sweet as can be, and we can’t wait to introduce him to our other tripod, Frida, so they can recuperate together. 🐾👫🐾
