Our Frontier Conference Mission Fed Student Athletes of the Year for Spring 2026 are: Jesus Hernandez Fernandez from Gompers Prep Track & Field & Danilyn Henson from Victory Christian Track & Field.
Jesus is captain of his track & field team & was a CIF Scholar Captain & the 2026 HSSA Award Recipient. Jesus is ASB Class President & gives his time to STAR/PAL Making Changes Program, SDPD Cadet Program, and volunteers for Friday Night Live as an activist for the Better Community Youth Council & in their mentoring program. He is an Honor Roll Recipient, QuestBridge College Prep Scholar, Horatio Alger California State Scholar Award Recipient, Harvard Prize Book Award Recipient, AP Scholar Award Recipient, USC Norman Topping Scholar, The B.R.I.D.G.E. Pitch Master Award Winner, and the ELKS Most Valuable Student National Semi-Finalist. "Jesus exemplifies what it means to be a true student athlete at Gompers Preparatory Academy. As the Valedictorian, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to excellence in both academics and athletics. Jesus consistently applies a disciplined mindset, striving to be the best in every endeavor he pursues. As a first generation college attendee, Jesus is not only achieving personal success but also paving the way for future generations in his family. Danilyn has had athletic success due to her hard work, consistency, & ability to perform in key moments. She stands out for her character competing with humility, supporting others, & consistently demonstrating respect for teammates, opponents, & officials. She is ASB President where she demonstrates strong leadership through effective communication, unity, and is responsible, has integrity & a positive attitude. "Danilyn consistently demonstrates a strong commitment to academics through her dedication, discipline, and ability to balance a rigorous course load with extracurricular responsibilities.
