FirefighterAid is the 501(c)(3) fund managed by San Diego Fireman's Relief Association. Our mission is to provide charitable assistance to Firefighters and families in crisis, and to promote awareness of Firefighter health and safety issues and the impacts they have upon families and communities. FirefighterAid is supported entirely by donations from SDFRA members and the general public. We need t

he support of our community to continue caring for firefighters and families through sickness, distress, and death. For over 100 years, the San Diego Fireman's Relief Association has been providing for the protection, care, and relief of the members of the San Diego Fire Department. In 1990, the association founded the Benevolent Fund to provide a channel for public support as the need continued to increase. Upon it's founding, this new 501(c)(3) charity was called "The Widows, Orphans, and Distressed Firefighters Fund" in an attempt to reflect the mission and purpose for which the fund was created. A few years later, the name was shortened again to "The San Diego Firefighters Benevolent Fund", and today is known as FirefighterAid.

What an incredible day at the 4th Annual Motors for Minds Firefighter Charity Car Show! 🔥🚒🏎️

With 150 registered cars, 30+ amazing vendors, and hundreds of spectators filling the event with energy and support, this year’s show was our biggest and most successful yet. Because of ALL OF YOU — our sponsors, vendors, car enthusiasts, firefighters, and community supporters — we proudly reached our goal of raising $40,000 to support the mental health of San Diego firefighters through our Fire Family Services. ❤️

A massive thank you to SDFD Engineer Justin Loftis, who pours his heart and soul into this event year after year in support of his fire family. This show is truly a labor of love, made possible by the countless people who show up, give back, and believe in the mission.

Today, on International Firefighters’ Day, we recognize the people who run toward danger when everyone else is running away. We honor the courage, sacrifice, and commitment of firefighters everywhere, but especially our San Diego Firefighters.

From structure fires and wildland blazes to rescues, medical calls, and disaster response, firefighters show up in our hardest moments. Their work is physically demanding, emotionally heavy, and absolutely essential to our communities.

That’s exactly why SDFRA and FirefighterAid exist—to support Firefighters through the challenges the carry long after the call is over. ❤️‍🔥

Our 4th Annual Motors For Minds Car Show is finally here and it’s going to be bigger, louder, and better than ever!

This FREE event is open to spectators from 9:30 AM – 2 PM, and registered vehicles can start cruising in at 8:30 AM!

Come hang out with the FirefighterAid board, staff, and tons of local firefighters at this family-friendly event, it’s the perfect way to spend your day. This show is truly a labor of love and passion by so many, especially SDFD Engineer Justin Loftis, who pours his heart and soul into making this event unforgettable year after year.

We’ve got insane raffle prizes, an awesome live band, fresh Motors for Minds merch, super cool vendors, and so much more lined up. Don’t miss out!
