The garden is looking great! The majority of plants, such as squash, tomatoes, melons, strawberries, and more are setting fruit. The zennias are blooming, and many of the herbs have gone to flour as well. This encourages pollinators, which is a good thing!

As temperatures increase, pest management, w**d control, and watering all become very important for maintaining a healthy garden. We welcome the help of volunteers as we do our best to steward this little plot of land.

If you’re interested in volunteering, click the link in our bio to sign up.

One of the sweetest moments from our last Growing Garden Cities event was getting to give away an aloe vera plant to a young attendee who had taken particular interest.

The plant was actually part of a display and wasn’t originally intended to be given away, but when we saw his interest, we told him to come back to the table before he left so that he could take home the plant. His joy filled reaction was priceless!

His excitement reminded me that gardening is about so much more than growing plants. It’s about encouraging curiosity, sharing knowledge, and investing in people. Sometimes a small act of kindness — and a simple little plant — can mean a whole lot. 🌿

June in the Concho Valley is hot, sunny, and firmly into warm-season gardening (USDA Zone 8). You’ll have the best success with heat-loving vegetables, herbs, flowers, and drought-tolerant plants.

Here’s what you can plant in the garden in June: okra, southern peas (black-eyed, purple hull), sweet potato slips, pumpkin, summer squash, melons, and zucchini.

Want to add a pop of color to the garden? Zinnias and Sunflowers are two flowers that do well in the heat and will encourage pollinators.

Happy June, and HAPPY GARDENING!

Our “Plant It Forward” campaign was a huge success, and it’s all because of YOU!

Thanks to the generous donation of plant starts from Sam's Club we were able to give away hundreds of free plants to dozens of community members.

What started as a simple campaign quickly turned into something much bigger — neighbors connecting, families participating, and our community coming together with a shared goal of making our spaces more beautiful. 🌼🌿

We are so grateful for every share, tag, follow, and smiling face that came out to pick up plants. Your support helps us continue creating positive, community-centered initiatives that bring people together and encourage a healthier, more beautiful community.

Don’t forget to share photos of what you’re planting and tag us!
