A huge thank-you to Education Comes First for supporting our Books with Purpose learning experience this summer at Dream MORE! 📚✨

Through this meaningful project, our students created original picture books with thoughtful themes and reassuring messages to help younger children navigate challenges they may face—like bullying, starting at a new school without friends, or even monsters under the bed.

Knowing their books would be shared with a real audience inspired students to take extra care in crafting engaging stories that would both capture young readers’ imaginations and offer comfort and encouragement. Students from our two sites even came together over Zoom to share their books and provide feedback before finalizing their projects!

Along the way, students strengthened important literacy and communication skills through writing, storytelling, sharing their ideas, and giving and receiving constructive feedback. Having a real audience for their work made the experience even more meaningful and inspiring! 💙📖

LEAP for Education (LEAP for Education) capped off another inspiring summer on the North Shore.

At the Summer Work Program Student Showcase in Salem, students presented the careers they explored over six weeks of paid work experience, mentorship, and career-readiness training. Sixty-five high school students from Salem and Lynn took part this year. They dug into fields like cardiology, engineering, and nursing, then shared what they learned with family, mentors, and the community.

Congrats to all the students for their presentations. This is exactly the kind of hands-on learning that keeps our young people rooted here and ready for what comes next. Senator Lovely was proud to support LEAP’s work in the FY27 state budget.

A huge shout-out of appreciation to Save the Harbor / Save the Bay for providing a free trip to George’s Island for each of our middle school programs! 💙🌊

Students from both Expanding Horizons and Dream MORE had an incredible time—from a boat ride and fishing, to counting snails and crabs on the beach with MIT students, skipping stones, and exploring Fort Warren on a tour designed just for middle schoolers.

The Save the Harbor/Save the Bay staff were knowledgeable, welcoming, and fantastic with our students. We are so grateful for the work they do to raise funds and make experiences like this free and accessible to young people. These opportunities allow LEAP students to explore places and try activities they might not otherwise have access to.

Thank you, Save the Harbor/Save the Bay! We can’t wait to go back next year! 💙⛴️☀️

Dream MORE students explored the Boston Harbor Islands this month—diving into marine science, local history, and climate change firsthand.

From fishing to learning about a WWI-era fort, students are now applying what they learned to create their own picture books and videos—building both environmental awareness and literacy skills.
