Ever wonder what happens to trash after it leaves the dumpster?

Join BizRecycling for a FREE behind-the-scenes tour of the Ramsey/Washington Recycling & Energy Center in Newport and see firsthand how our region is rethinking waste. https://f.mtr.cool/t8hxtqvpfh

The R&E Center processes roughly 450,000 tons of trash each year - about 13% of Minnesota’s waste. Visitors will see how technology, equipment, and innovative processes are used to recover recyclable materials and food scraps and turn remaining waste into fuel used to generate electricity.

- This is a great opportunity for business and community leaders to:
- See the scale of our region’s waste stream firsthand
- Learn what actually happens after materials are thrown away
- Understand the difference between recycling, waste reduction, organics, and waste-to-energy
- Discover practical ways businesses can reduce waste and improve recycling
- Learn about BizRecycling resources, including free technical assistance and grants that can help businesses make improvements

And the tour makes an impact - 94% of 2025 tour participants said they planned to improve their waste management practices because of what they learned.
