Global Volunteers Working on six continents in over 100 host communities, we have engaged volunteers in life-affirming service opportunities since 1984.

What if your next trip gave you more than a change of scenery?

There’s something different about returning home knowing your time away had a purpose. Maybe you helped a student practice English, offered a new mother something you know, shared a professional skill, or simply showed up where an extra set of hands was welcomed.

Those moments can turn a few weeks away into something much more lasting. Not because you checked more places off a list, but because you chose to spend your time doing something that mattered.

Sometimes you arrive ready to teach and discover just how much you have to learn.

When Lesley Rainey joined a service program in Crete, she wasn’t a professional teacher. She was simply willing to prepare, encourage students, and help them practice skills that could support their futures.

But the classroom was only part of what stayed with her.

There was the warmth of the people who welcomed her. The fun she had with her students. The relationships she formed. And the feeling that her time there had become about far more than the lessons she had planned.

For healthcare professionals volunteering with Global Volunteers, expertise becomes an opportunity to work alongside community partners and help meet important needs.

Service invites you into the everyday rhythms of a community. Instead of simply observing a culture, you have the opportunity to listen, contribute, and form relationships grounded in mutual respect and shared purpose.

It's not a single moment. It's the friendships built over days of conversations, encouragement, learning, and working together.

The joy of every Global Volunteers service program are the children full of curiosity, families working toward brighter futures, and community partners leading meaningful change.

Spending time working hand-in-hand has a way of turning a destination into something meaningful.

Volunteers return home with lasting memories of new friends who welcomed them, taught them, inspired them, and reminded them of what truly matters.
