Family Education Diabetes Series - FEDS

Family Education Diabetes Series - FEDS Hello! This is a public group for the Family Education Diabetes Series. The Family Education Diabetes Series (FEDS) was first launched in 2003.

Since then, the FEDS has been serving adult patients, their families (spouses, parents, children), and providers (physicians, nurses, dieticians, mental health personnel) every other week for an evening of fellowship, education, and support. The FEDS helps youth and families prevent or manage diabetes.

We will meet IN-PERSON at the DIW (3080 Centerville Rd., Little Canada, MN).

Our topic / activity for the evening will focus on our experiences and wisdom navigating diabetes (and health, generally) during COVID + and how this has evolved to present-day. (Sidebar: And to those of you who were at the previous FEDS in which we talked about upcoming talking-circles: we are now planning to do this on May 2nd.)

Boozhoo Everyone,

We hope that you all are safe and doing well!

We are reaching out to let you know that our next Family Education Diabetes Series (FEDS) meeting will be on Tuesday, April 4th, at 5:30PM.

We will meet IN-PERSON at the DIW (3080 Centerville Rd., Little Canada, MN).

Our topic for the evening will be a continuation of last time’s discussion about how common struggles with depression (sadness) and anxiety (worry) impact our health, and how social connectedness and support are so helpful in our journey(s). Specifically, we will identify common scenarios that we (all) struggle with, and do some role-plays about how to respond to these struggles and how to improve, track, and monitor our well-being over time.

If you have any questions beforehand, send Tai an email to [email protected] or text to 617-763-6369.

We will meet IN-PERSON at the DIW (3080 Centerville Rd., Little Canada, MN).

Our speaker will be our very own Dr. Tai. He will lead us in a discussion about how common struggles with depression (sadness) and anxiety (worry) impact our health, and how social connectedness and support are so helpful in our journey(s). We will talk about how these processes have gone for many of us over recent years with COVID (and rough winters!), and about different ways to improve, track, and monitor our well-being over time.

Boozhoo Everyone,

We hope that you all are safe and doing well!

We are reaching out to let you know that our next Family Education Diabetes Series (FEDS) meeting will be on Tuesday, March 7th, at 5:30PM.

We will meet IN-PERSON at the DIW (3080 Centerville Rd., Little Canada, MN, 55117).

Our speaker will be our very own Dr. Tai. He will lead us in a discussion about how to talk with doctors. We all know that sometimes this can be very difficult. It can feel rushed and frustrating, like we're not being listened to, and we can walk away confused about our treatment plans, medications, etc. Tai will facilitate a conversation that highlights (1) great ways to prepare for health visits (beforehand and in between), and (2) strategies for effectively engaging with health providers during visits.

If you have any questions beforehand, send Tai an email to [email protected] or text to 617-763-6369.
