Mary’s Pence is proud to support the Black Coalition for Safe Motherhood as they continue to give Black birthing families and their supporters ownership of their maternal health experiences through their ACTT curriculum — Asking questions until you understand the answers, Claiming your space (physically and mentally), Trusting your body, and Telling your story.

Leslie from the Black Coalition for Safe Motherhood shared her experience at the 2026 Grantee Gathering in Minnesota hosted by Mary’s Pence staff in June. A quote from her experience is highlighted.

En Mary’s Pence nos sentimos orgullosas de ser parte de esta celebración, que honra la riqueza y diversidad de nuestras culturas a través de la música, el baile, la deliciosa comida y el encuentro comunitario.

This year we celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month with our Northfield community! ❤️

Despite the rain, many people came out to the Hispanic Heritage Celebration, organized by our friends at the Northfield Public Library. Mary’s Pence was proud to be part of the celebration as we gathered to honor the richness and diversity of Hispanic cultures through music, dance, delicious food, and community.

Grantee Spotlight!

Mary’s Pence would like to highlight and congratulate our former grantee, Planting People Growing Justice, on celebrating 10 years of promoting reading and diversity in children’s books at their 10-year Anniversary Fundraiser on Saturday, December 5, 2026.

Planting People Growing Justice Leadership Institute was created to end the school-to-prison pipeline through reading, literacy, and social initiatives. PPGJLI has donated over 15,000 books to children, visited schools, hosted 30,000 participants in virtual readings, and continues to host the PPGJLI Youth Writing Competition.

Mary’s Pence would like to congratulate our grantee The Curve Foundation for speaking at the 35th Annual NLGJA LGBTQ+ Journalist National Convention.
NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists, is a journalist-led association that partners with media outlets to encourage fair and accurate representation when highlighting LGBTQ+ communities and issues.

The Curve Foundation, was created as an extension of Curve magazine to highlight and uplift the voices of LGBTQIA+ women and nonbinary people.

Congratulations to The Curve Foundation for continuing their mission of being a positive representation of the LGBTQIA+ community and their shared history.

Grantee Spotlight!

Mary’s Pence would like to highlight our grantee Fanm Saj and their continued dedication to healing women across the African Diaspora through their Reiki Group Healing Sessions.

Fanm Saj was started back in 2018 in Miami, Florida as a collective and alternative resource to ancestrally heal Black families through culturally based tools and resources. Fanm Saj envisions a world where families have the support to live in communities that are spiritually, mentally, physically safe, and healthy.

Today, we celebrate Independence Day with our staff, partners, and friends in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua!

We celebrate the women and communities who are building stronger, more just futures across Central America. We’re grateful for the relationships that connect us, and for the leadership, creativity, and resilience our partners bring to their communities every day.

We recently found out that the pay gap exists at every education level and widens significantly as women age and progress in their careers — women 45 and older earn $0.71 per dollar men earn, and women executives earn $0.69.

Separately, Glassdoor data shows the gap climbs from a 12% difference at the start of a career to 19% after a decade and 25% after 30 years.

The longer a woman works, the more she loses!

This Labor Day, we demand equality.
