Pancake, Porkchop, and Odette were three of the lucky ones who made it off of the urgent list at the shelter and became Swampies. All three dogs are safe with us for as long as they need, but all three dogs are in boarding currently and are in need of foster homes asap.

All three dogs are varying levels of energy, are all dog friendly, and all three have had wonderful kennel manners while in boarding. Pancake is deaf and her foster will have a learning curve with teaching her signals, but she will do just about anything for food, and we are lucky to have on our side ready to help guide her people to success! Porkchop is still working on some basic manners, but is just a boy who loves to play and is happy 100% of the time. Odette has surgery coming up, and while we have secured a medical foster while she heals we would love to find a more long term foster situation for her.

One of our partner shelters reached out to us about a diabetic cat whose owner had passed away. She was so matted she had to be shaved completely, and her poor skin was angry and infected below all the mats. She was at the shelter and she needed a plan - she needed out.

Swamp cats are few and far between for us, but Dolly is living up to all things senior Swamp cat as we knew she would. She is resilient, confident, a total baddie, and handling all her life changes with the grace of the queen she is. 💅🏼

Dolly’s new routine is going well so far, and her first check up after starting insulin was a positive one! In a month if she stays regulated she will get a much needed dental. Did you know dental issues and urinary issues are big contributors to regulating glucose levels?! We are learning so much over here. 👏🏼

Dolly is getting used to living with other animals in her foster home, though she tends to be happy just doing her own thing. So far she has not been able to jump up on anything - we are working on her pain management for old lady arthritis- but that doesn’t stop her from bouncing around from one soft spot to another all day. Dolly has the best old droopy whiskers, judgmental looks, and her expressive face makes it very easy to know when you have annoyed her. 🤣 despite that, Dolly purrs as soon as you touch her, and she has been nothing but gentle and sweet with all the people she meets.

From fighting for her life to living life to the fullest - Kiara, now Tazi, isn’t taking one day of her miracle recovery for granted! 🤩

Tazi, short for Tasmanian Devil 🤣, lives on over an acre of land where she keeps big brother Red on his toes and likes to rile up the chickens. She swears she’s helping mom with the farm chores. Where Red goes, Tazi isn’t far behind. Mom says she’s growing like a w**d and is going to be a “monster” just like her 100+ pound bestie. When she’s not playing with friends, swimming in her pond, or cuddling with big bro, she’s playing with her new favorite toy - an empty water jug 😂

Tazi is the epitome of ✨Swampie Magic✨ and we couldn’t be happier to hear all about her wild antics because things could have ended so differently for her. She loves to live life and we love to see it 🥹 This happy ending quite literally wouldn’t be possible without everyone that donated to her care, and we will never grow tired of saying of saying THANK YOU! Tazi is the reason we do this and all of your support is the reason we can 😭

Happy forever, miracle girl! You fought tooth and nail for it and if anyone has earned it, it’s you 🌟

Tell me how this spicy baby is still up for adoption?! Salsa is the very last of the TexMex crew still looking for a family and while she is having a blast in her foster home she (and we) are wondering, “what the heck?!”

Salsa was the tiniest of the bunch, but the sassiest and bravest from day one. She is s***k and confidence with a splash of cuddly sweet lap puppy - when she is tired enough. 😜

Salsa is being fostered with dogs and cats, and has even managed to make one of the cats her friend. She is a smart gal who is eager to learn, but still working on the basics - she is just a baby still at 14 weeks. Salsa goes to daycare at a couple days a week and loves to play with all the big dogs, and has discovered her love for pool time!

Salsa truly lives up to her name. Add a little spice to your life and adopt a puppy who is ready to take on the world by your side. 🤩💪🏼

Brace yourselves for the newest Swampies!!!🤪

Meet our Halloween twins, Spirit and Spook! These 10 week old babies found themselves surrendered at the shelter a part of an accidental litter…spay and neuter your pets my friends!!! When everyone in the litter had rescue help except for two…well you know we had to find a way to make it work!

Spirit and Spook have had a busy 24 hours. They left the shelter, had a road trip, have met dogs and cats, panicked over what a leash and collar are, went to the vet, and are spending their first nights in their foster homes. Being a Swampie has these babies pooped! 😴

Follow along as we get to know these spooky babies and all of our other Swampies, and as always, adopt happiness. 😘

This week was filled with a few surprises, and ended with us thrilled to introduce our newest ragtag bunch of Swampies to you all.

Meet Odette, Dolly, Pancake, Porkchop, and Pigeon! 🤩

💘 Odette has been at the shelter since July and is as sweet as they come. When the shelter noticed a mass on her v***a that was growing in size they sent out a rescue plea for her and we said yes please! 🙋🏻‍♀️ We cannot wait to address the obvious chronic allergies and infections her thickened ears and swollen paws have had to endure and get her mass addressed. 🤞🏼

🎀 Dolly - a rare breed of Swamp dog - was another rescue plea. We got the, “do you guys take cats?” And before I could even reply and say no her story and picture came through and we were done for. Dollys’ owner had passed away, she was covered head to toe in mats, and the shelter discovered she was also diabetic. She needed out and we said sign us up. ✨

🥞 Pancake is just a goof who has been sitting at the shelter for a couple months already. She is deaf, and we are very excited to get to work with to help our girl blossom. 💪🏼

🐷 Porkchop is just a good guy whose luck had ran out. (Until he met us that is. 😉) Him and others were set to be euthanized in order to clear kennel space at a small crowded shelter and we scrambled to be able to pull him just 24 hours before his set euthanasia date. Porkchop will be overlooked no more! 😎

🕊️ Pigeon’s sad little face had us fake (and maybe a little real) crying immediately. He was found as a stray covered in fleas and underweight. We aren’t sure what this little dude’s past was like before, but we know it will be pampered and full of cute outfits from here on out. 💅🏼

Dutton came to us needing a lot of TLC both physically and emotionally. His skin was a wreck and took months to bounce back, he was wildly underweight, and he was so so timid and unsure. It was obvious Dutton was desperate to connect to someone to trust and love even in all his fears and it showed in many ways - in the ways he would creep up close to you and then flinch when you moved, the way he would try to play with a toy but spook himself if the squeaker was too loud. When his foster family reached out to take him on we knew we had hit the jackpot with the most patient perfect family ever, because they were the same family who took on our Figgy. 😭

Months later and shocked that this fuzzy bear had somehow had zero adoption interest foster mom admitted what we had already seen. That Dutton and Fig were absolute besties, and had turned into emotional support dogs for each other. Fig helped Dutton be adventurous and playful, Dutton helped Fig conquer a few doorways she was fearful of walking through - but if one of them could do it, they both could. And so in the words of foster mom turned forever mom - “Sometimes you adopt a dog, and sometimes you adopt a dog for your dog.”

Happy forever Dutton. You landed exactly where you were meant to be. 💙
