Welcome to Scouting America Troops 243 (boys) and 9243 (girls) located in St. Augustine, Fl.

We are Scout-led troops focused on adventure, leadership, and service.

Snakes alive! Our Scouts were treated to a presentation by Snake Lady Danielle at Monday’s meeting. We got to meet some friendly nonvenomous snakes and learn lots of valuable herpetological information. All of our Scouts really enjoyed Snake Lady Danielle’s program, so we’d like to say “fang” you very much for coming!

The treat trail is ready! Our troops have worked hard to build and staff the trail for 800 Cub Scouts and their families.

Our troops are at Spookoree this weekend, a council-wide Camporee. This morning our Scouts performed the flag ceremony!

We think our leaders will sleep well tonight after facilitating this massive project! Our Scouts got to create their own shirts using 3-D printed stamps, learned how to tie up a clothesline with the proper knot, then hung up their shirts to dry. Whew! That’s a lot of shirts.

The real magic happens when our Scouts work together! There’s a special synergy that takes place when our adult volunteers can fade into the background, watching carefully while our Scouts put their heads together. Take a look at these recent moments from our first aid series!

Ancient City Scouts is selling popcorn today at the Saint Augustine Lowe’s! Come support Scouting and meet some enthusiastic Scouts who would love to tell you why they love our program!

On last weekend’s trip to the USS Yorktown, some of our Scouts recreated photos taken during our last trip, two years ago. These two young men have grown several inches and created lots of Scouting memories in the two years between these photos!

Robert Baden Powell, the founder of the modern Scouting movement, was once asked what a Scout should be prepared for. His response was, “Why, any old thing!” Our younger Scouts are working through a series on first aid. While we’re covering skills that one might associate with first aid, such as treating shock (seen in the photo), we are also emphasizing the importance of staying calm and providing leadership during emergencies. Scouts should be prepared to give direction, provide reassurance, and prevent further injury-“any old thing,” as RBP said!

At Monday’s meeting, our younger Scouts worked on some first aid skills to satisfy their rank requirements. We had a short demonstration on recognizing, preventing, and treating symptoms of shock, and then the Scouts practiced their skills. Thanks to all the adults who stepped up to be a practice victim-being a Scouter isn’t always glamorous, but it’s always interesting!
