All Star notification:
This notification is for current Champlain Little League players only. Unfortunately we cannot facilitate other leagues at this time as we have enough interest from within the league.
Thanks for understanding
Champlain Little League is excited to announce that baseball All Star evaluations will be Tuesday, June 2nd at Cioffi Park and ALL eligible players are invited to attend!!! Champlain Little League is also very excited to announce that the 8-10 (league age) District 3 All Star baseball tournament will be hosted by Champlain Little League! Additionally, the 9-11 (league age) District 3 All Star tournament will be hosted by Champlain Little League! It is going to be an extremely fun and exciting summer of baseball at Cioffi Park this year.
Champlain Little League encourages every eligible player that has any interest in committing to All Stars this summer to attend evaluations. Evaluations are open to ALL eligible registered Champlain Little League players in the following divisions: Player Pitch Minor League, Player Pitch Major League. To be eligible for the All Star tournament, a team needs to have played a minimum of 12 regular season games and a player needs to have played in a minimum of 8 out of those 12 total games.
Player Pitch Minor League Players that are league age 9-10 (league age 8 year olds are not eligible) will have evaluations at Cioffi Park on June 2nd from 5:30 PM-6:30 PM. Please arrive 15 minutes early, minimally, to register and warm up.
Player Pitch Minor League and Player Pitch Major League Players that are league age 11-12 will have evaluations at Cioffi Park on June 2nd from 6:45 PM-7:45 PM. Please arrive 15 minutes early, minimally, to register and warm up.
Players that are interested will need to be available from June to potentially early August this summer. Practices are expected to start the first week of June and continue through tournament play and the practice/game schedule is usually 5-7 days a week. Typically the tournament is done in a double elimination format which means an All Star season could sadly end in just two games. Teams will practice and scrimmage other teams up to the District tournament until they are either eliminated from tournament play or win the District, the District champions then move on to the State tournament. The winner of the State tournament will represent Vermont in a regional tournament somewhere in the Northeast depending on the division. Although it is a big commitment from families and players, the memories made will last a lifetime. This is a rare and special opportunity, many communities do not have this sort of opportunity for their youth baseball players and the friendships that are made, the memories, the player growth each player makes every All Star season is truly amazing. Please consider attending evaluations!
If you are interested in All Stars and cannot attend evaluations, please reach out to [email protected] identifying the player's name and baseball age so that they may be considered for the All Star team. Champlain Little League understands that families are very busy and there may be schedule conflicts, if there is an excused absence reasonable accommodations will be considered to ensure that eligible players are considered for an All Star team as long as communication occurs.
The fine print:
There is no cost, $0, for players to play in Champlain Little League All Stars!
Uniforms are provided by Champlain Little League at no cost, $0, with the exception of baseball pants.
It takes a tremendous amount of volunteer hours to host District 3 All Star tournaments (thank you to all those volunteers out there!). As such, all families that have a player(s) on an All Star team are expected to work a minimum of three (3) volunteer shifts per associated All Star player during a tournament. A volunteer shift could be snack bar, tournament director, scorebook keeping, announcing, etc.. Any family that does not work a minimum of three (3) volunteer shifts per associated All Star player during a tournament will be responsible to pay Champlain Little League $50/missed volunteer shift up to $150/player at the end of the tournament.
All Star teams will consist of 12 players and 3 registered coaches.
Champlain Little League is seeking players to fill three All Star teams, 8-10 All Star team (league age 8 year olds are not eligible), 9-11 All Star team, and 10-12 All Star team.
Unfortunately it is possible that Champlain Little League has to make cuts, this is a sad truth in competitive sports. This does not diminish the effort and commitment that players and families give to Champlain Little League. Please explain this to players ahead of evaluations, any player for Champlain Little League should be proud of their achievements regardless of making an All Star team.
No players that are rostered on a Machine Pitch/Coaches Pitch Minor League team are eligible for All Stars regardless of their baseball league age (league age 8 year olds are not eligible as an example). We will see you next year!
Any eligible Coach can express interest in being an All Star coach by communicating interest to [email protected].
Any eligible player that is interested in playing All Stars but has another commitment during the summer that could be in conflict with the All Star season is still eligible to make a team. However, this prior commitment needs to be communicated to [email protected].
Please get the word out!!! All eligible players are invited to All Star evaluations, all parents, coaches, volunteers (you get the gist) are welcome to spread the word. It would be a dream come true for Champlain Little League to have 100% participation in the All Star evaluation process from all eligible players.
See everyone there!!
