ATTENTION TEMP EMPLOYEES

Temp employees are not receiving vacation time when they are hired as permanent employees. Under the SCA, vacation is granted based on your amount of time working on the contract. If a temp worker completes six months of temp work, they are entitled to a week's vacation upon the start of their probation. We are presently investigating the grievance and will be speaking with employees to determine the extent of the impact.

PAYROLL

We received the below communication from Sciolex.

Please be advised that there was a moderate payroll error this pay period which affected the Health and Welfare rate for employees covered by Collective Bargaining Agreements. We are aware of the issue and are working to correct. We should implement a fix NLT COB tomorrow, with any missed payments being deposited by next Tuesday.

Grievance update!

The union met with Sciolex today to discuss the Step 3 grievance regarding overtime. We are pleased to share that we had a positive and productive discussion. We are scheduled to meet again next week. We are hopeful to reach a resolution.

The overtime has made a substantial impact towards the goal. The data is now a great deal lower than what was reflected in the 7/11 Sciolex e-mail. We’re awesome!

Sciolex reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining flexibility with overtime requirements. If you need to request an accommodation you can contact your supervisor or HR.

For those asking about arrangements, Mike Harton has shared the below information. We are thinking of Mike and his family today. Mike shared that he is grateful for all the prayers and support.

Family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 8:00PM on Wednesday, July 20th, 2022, at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM on Thursday, July 21st, 2022, at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans.

Information and reminder from our CBA-
ARTICLE 25 – TEMPORARY TRANSFERS AND ASSIGNMENTS
In the event it becomes necessary to temporarily transfer an employee from one facility to another facility, or to temporarily transfer an employee from one function to another, the Employer shall first ask for volunteers for such a transfer. Only volunteers who are qualified to perform the work shall be accepted. In the event there are an insufficient number of qualified volunteers, the Employer shall select the least senior employees for temporary transfer based on the skill and ability necessary to perform the work as determined by the Employer. Any employee who is temporarily assigned to another facility or function shall be paid the employee’s regular rate of pay or the rate of pay applicable to the work actually performed during the temporary assignment, whichever is higher. Regular employees will not be required to temporarily transfer to another position if a temporary employee is available to do the work, unless the work requires the skill of the regular employee. It is understood that a regular employee may volunteer to be temporarily transferred. It is understood that if it becomes necessary to temporarily assign General Clerk Is, Data Entry Operator IIs or Driver/Couriers to perform General Clerk II or General Clerk III functions, the Employer shall distribute such work in an equitable manner so that employees are given the same opportunities to perform such functions and receive the higher pay provided an employee has the necessary skills and/or qualifications to perform the required tasks. It is understood that the Employer shall document and keep records of the temporary distribution of General Clerk II and General Clerk III work functions and shall produce such records upon request from the Union to demonstrate that such work has been equitably distributed.

No temporary transfer shall exceed ninety (90) days, unless by mutual agreement by the parties
