Since 2010, we have worked to protect sharks and marine ecosystems across the Riviera Maya through science, education, conservation, and community action.

Together, we have achieved:

En Saving Our Sharks nos sentimos profundamente orgullosos de felicitar y reconocer a nuestro co-fundador y consejero Dr. Mauricio Hoyos Padilla , por recibir el prestigioso Premio Buffett de National Geographic al Liderazgo en Conservación, uno de los máximos reconocimientos otorgados a quienes dedican su vida a proteger el planeta 🌎🦈

Su trabajo científico, liderazgo y valentía han permitido ampliar el conocimiento global sobre los tiburones y demostrar la importancia vital que tienen para la salud de nuestros océanos. Desde el primer ultrasonido de tiburón toro en Playa del Carmen, hasta su participación en iniciativas clave como la creación del Parque Nacional Revillagigedo, su legado ya forma parte de la historia de la conservación.

At Saving Our Sharks, we are deeply proud to congratulate and honor our co-founder and advisor, Dr. Mauricio Hoyos Padilla , for receiving the prestigious National Geographic Buffett Award for Leadership in Conservation, one of the highest honors awarded to individuals who dedicate their lives to protecting our planet. 🌎🦈

His scientific work, leadership, and courage have helped expand global knowledge about sharks and demonstrate the vital role they play in the health of our oceans. From conducting the first bull shark ultrasound in Playa del Carmen to contributing to key conservation initiatives such as the creation of the Revillagigedo National Park, his legacy is already part of conservation history.
