💧 Clean Water Is Changing Lives in Chevreau Lombard, Haiti
Just a few months after the Good Shepherd Foundation installed a new clean water well in the community of Chevreau Lombard, the impact is already clear.
Before the well was installed, the local clinic recorded 977 cases of waterborne infections in just four months.
Since the well began operating in November 2025, that number has dropped to 497 cases over the next four months — a 45% decrease in illness.
That means fewer sick children, healthier families, and less strain on the community’s medical clinic.
Sometimes the most powerful solutions are also the simplest.
Clean water saves lives.

The Doctors of the Good Shepherd Foundation provide training sessions for the community along with providing medical care. This is a session on breast feeding and the benefits to both the mother and child.

Education is an important aspect, along with care, treatment, clean water, and latrines for improving the overall health of the village and surrounding areas.

One of the planned latrines is complete. Access to clean and compliant sanitary facilities impacts the quality of the water supply as well as improves the general health of the community.

Along with our effort for latrines and wells, TGSFH continues to support the medical clinic in Cheverau where last week 21 children were vaccinated in cooperation with the Health Ministry of Haiti's vaccination program.

The types of health condition which the clinic sees on a weekly bases include:
- Cardiovascular issues
- Gastrointestinal problems
- Abdominal pain
- Musculoskeletal ailments
- UTIs
- Skin conditions (ringworm)

and many other conditions and ailments associated with this region of the world.

While flooding set back the construction of the latrines and wells for a while, some great progress is being made. We continue to work with the community to understand how best they can be served and how facilities, such as latrines and wells, can best be leveraged to improve the health of the people of the Chevreau. These facilities are in additional to the medical clinic that TGSFH supports in the village or Chevreau. Local companies and workers were used for planning, designing, and construction of latrines and wells. By Haitians for Haitians.

All glory to God ... latrine and well construction has begun! As part of the on-going work to help improve the overall health of Chevreau and the surrounding areas and thanks to generous donations we have been able to fund the construction of 3 latrines and a potable well near the medial clinic. Clean water and sanitary conditions are key to maintaining village health.

With the continued gang activity in Haiti, it can be hard to keep the medical clinic supplied with the needed medicines, bandages, and testing equipment. Thanks to a new shipping connection, we were able to restock the medical clinic so that it can serve the community in Chevreau de Lombard and the 20 surrounding communities in Haiti. There was a celebration and worship service of thanks held at the Good Shepherd Clinic in Cheveau for the 13th anniversary. 30+ town dignitaries and 100+ people came to the clinic to join in the celebration, many with stories of how they have benefited from the services the clinic provides.
