MEET THE CAST
Grace Walker (she/her) as Octavius
Kari Grundmeier (she/her) as Calpurnia
Emily Heck (she/her) as Portia
Natali Jorgensen (she/her) as Lucius
Eli Wood (he/him) as Cinna the Poet

If you were suddenly in power, what is the first thing you would change and why? •

Natali • “I would make public transit free and widespread, because I wish it was easier to use”

• If you were actually living in the 1870s western prairie, what would you really enjoy? What would you really not enjoy? •

Emily • “I've always romanticized pioneer times, so in my mind, I'd enjoy living a simpler life—having animals, living off the land, making everything from scratch. But in reality? I wouldn’t enjoy all the illness and death from things we can easily cure today. ”

Eli • “I would enjoy living without phones and I would not enjoy having to use horses instead of cars.”

Natali • “I would enjoy the fact that sewing would be more useful, and being able to see more stars would be nice. I would miss some of the conveniences of modern life, but I would either love or hate washing day.”

Grace • “If I were transported to live in the 1870s, I would enjoy almost every part of it for approximately a week. The Laura Ingalls Wilder books about being a prairie girl were some of my favorites growing up. I’d especially like to experience the wildness of the prairie under the big open sky. My grandma lives in a prairie town that was founded by Civil War veterans from both sides, and it would be very interesting to be present for some of those early town hall conversations. I would, however, quickly get sick of the backbreaking labor and the culture shock.”

• Who is your favorite Shakespeare character and why? •
Eli • "Mercutio. He is a hot mess.”

Natali • “Maria from Twelfth Night is one of my favorite Shakespeare characters. There are so many ways to portray her, each with such different implications for the plot.”

In a group setting, are you more prone to lead or follow? •

Natali • “I tend to observe, which ends up being following most of the time.”

Kari • “I definitely have the capacity to be a leader but I prefer not to make decisions for other people.”

MEET THE CAST
Jacob O’Connor (he/him) as Brutus
Michael Kelly (he/him/his) as Cassius
Hannah Peterson (she/her) as Mark Antony
Alex Yorkovich as Julius Caesar

• In a group setting, do you tend to lead or follow? •

Michael • “I prefer to follow. I must have a leader I can believe in, then I will strive to do what is required of me. I think Cassius can no longer believe in his leader.”

• If you were actually living in the 1870s western prairie, what would you enjoy? What would you not enjoy? •

Jacob • “I would enjoy being able to spend time out in clean nature, not having to answer emails or worry about gas. Just the tall grass and a gentle breeze. Wouldn’t enjoy the diseases though. I enjoy the fact that getting a little wet at 60 degrees isn’t a death sentence anymore ”

Hannah • “If I was in living the 1870s in the prairies, I would like to think I would actually enjoy it. I had always dreamt about traveling and becoming an explorer. And thats what I would have done. I would only stay in one place long enough to get through some, not all of the learning curves I would need to go through with the inexperience I have, however I am a fast learner and I would survive. And, most importantly, I would be wearing pants.”

• Who is your favorite Shakespeare character? Why? •

Alex• “I'll inevitably come up with a better answer 10 minutes after writing this, but it's a tie between Nick Bottom (Midsummer) and Sir Andrew (12th Night). Bottom, though very self-absorbed in an annoying sort of way that is detrimental to his fellow Mechanicals, is, at the end of the day, quite harmless, and very whimsical from the audience's perspective. Sir Andrew is just a silly do**us, and the way Hannah played him routinely had me laughing heartily. Truly an iconic performance. They both remind me very much of my own whimsy that doesn't get to come out and play nearly as much as it should (though none is more emblematic of that than the Mad Hatter, but that wasn't the question, so you get that tidbit for free! 😉)”
