Dave Manousos is a fine artist born in Oakland, California, now based in Sutter Creek in Northern California’s Gold Country. He regularly exhibits in the Sacramento region, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Southern California, with recent shows on the East Coast and in Zurich and Palma. This piece is a natural evolution of Dave Manousos’ “Big Eye” series, which explores human connection through the exaggerated focus of a single, oversized eye. Titled “Unresolved,” this painting captures two characters bound by a shared gaze, suggesting they are caught in a moment of collective contemplation, working through an unspoken mystery or problem that remains just beyond their grasp.

We’d also like to take this time to thank this year’s bidding sponsor, Placer One. Placer One is a state-of-the-art community comprised of people of all ages, an inventive new college campus, diverse residential neighborhoods, boundless recreational opportunities, and a prosperous retail and business hub. It is the county’s first all-electric master-planned community with a focus on sustainability and stewardship. Placer One celebrates families of all kinds, innovation, inclusivity, and ingenuity. It’s a place for everyone, where you can live, work and play. All for One, with homes for all.

For Michelle Dahl, painting is an act of resilience; humanistic storytelling that offers understanding beyond language. While her overarching practice explores individual emotional states in oil, the painting featured here, “Light the Torch”, represents a distinct, experimental shift into acrylics. This piece explores the concept of strong, stoic women with tumultuous inner lives masked by a calm outward strength.

We’d also like to take this time to thank this year’s presenting sponsor, JMC Homes. “JMC Homes is an established local new home builder in the Sacramento area with projects stretching back nearly 50 years. From entry-level homes to luxury mansions, JMC builds a variety of floor plans suited for a large range of homebuyers. As a local builder JMC is able to add some features that most builders would not consider building on a new home.”
