🎓 Congratulations to our newest Placer County CASAs!

Judge Begley swore in 15 new advocates who will now stand up for children in foster care. Welcome to the CASA family! 💙

Our advocates come from every background and give about 8 to 10 hours a month to one child. Placements change. Schools shift. Caseworkers turn over. Through it all, the advocate stays the same.

What is a DAF?

A DAF is a charitable giving account that allows you to set aside funds for nonprofits you care about. This DAF Day, consider supporting CASA of Placer, Yuba & Sutter, to ensure that children and youth in foster care have an advocate by their side.

We’re wrapping up our 2026 legislative recap with two final bills signed into California law! 🎉

Assembly Bill 2684, authored by Assemblymember Stephanie Nguyen, gives non-minor dependents placed out of state the option to have their monthly visit virtually.

Assembly Bill 2478, authored by Assemblymember Nick Schultz and Assemblymember Jose Luis Solache, establishes a Kinship Family Approval program, resulting in more successful recruitment of kin caregivers and more placements of children with people they already know and love.

Thank you to Governor Gavin Newsom for supporting these bills and helping advance this important legislation.

With AB 2684 and AB 2478 signed into law, we’re proud to celebrate the NINE bills we supported this legislative session:

Meet Zahrah, one of our newest CASA volunteers. From day one, she has dug into the laws, rights, and responsibilities that come with advocating for a youth in foster care, and it shows. When a hard moment came, she met it with care, asked the right questions, and came out of it with an even stronger bond with her youth.
