It was an honor to welcome California CASA CEO, Vince Hall, to our Placer office today!

We had a fantastic time introducing Vince to our dedicated staff and board members, who are the heart and soul of our organization. It was a wonderful opportunity for him to see firsthand the incredible, life-changing impact our CASA, Be Bold, and Family Services programs have on the lives of youth in our community.

During his visit, Vince toured our CASA store, where we provide essential items for the children we serve. He also gained deeper insights into our comprehensive training for new advocates, our unyielding advocacy efforts in the courtroom and community, and the strategic expansion of our services into Yuba and Sutter counties.

Vince's passion for our mission is contagious, and his laser focus on ensuring every foster youth throughout California has access to a dedicated CASA volunteer is truly inspiring. We are thrilled and confident to have such a dedicated, forward-thinking leader guiding the CASA network. We look forward to our continued partnership and the great things we will accomplish together for the children who need us most.

Thank you for visiting, Vince! Your support energizes us and reinforces the importance of our collective work.

Volunteer Spotlight: Ursula 🌟

For nearly 10 years, Ursula has walked alongside families working toward reunification, offering patience, steadiness, and genuine care every step of the way.

She meets parents exactly where they are. No judgment, just presence. She builds trust, celebrates progress, and reminds families they are not alone in the hardest moments.

One family she mentored navigated substance use, homelessness, and the long road back to their children. Ursula stood with them as they strengthened their recovery, found employment, and secured permanent housing. Today, those parents are reunited with their kids and thriving.

That story is one of many.

Thank you, Ursula, for the hours, the heart, and the difference you continue to make for children and families in our community.

We are incredibly grateful for our wonderful "Friends of CASA" team, who recently organized a successful car seat drive! This amazing group of women is deeply committed to the health and safety of the youth in our community, and their dedication shines through in everything they do.

Car seats are a critical need for many of the youth and families we serve, ensuring that every child can travel safely. This drive is a perfect example of how our community comes together to provide tangible support for foster youth and their families.

A huge thank you to the Friends of CASA and to everyone who contributed. Your generosity helps our volunteers continue their vital work, making a real difference in the lives of those we support!

Special thanks to Stephanie Bader, Christina Wilson, and Erika Schweickert (Pictured below) for their leadership!

Last month, Senator Tom Umberg sponsored Senate Resolution 162, recognizing CASA
Appreciation Day. This celebrates our 7,500+ volunteers across California who advocate for and support children in the foster care and juvenile justice systems.

Senator Umberg understands the transformative power and impact of the CASA model. There are currently 50,000+ children and youth in California without the support and advocacy of a CASA volunteer. We invite you to join us in closing that gap and creating
brighter outcomes for youth.

Juneteenth is Freedom Day, marking the exact day in 1865 when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, to ensure all enslaved people were freed.

At CASA of Placer, Yuba & Sutter, we pause on this day to reflect on our country’s history of anti-Blackness and the disenfranchisement of Black communities.

We invite you to join us in transforming the foster care and juvenile justice systems that serve a disproportionate number of Black youth.

LGBTQ+ youth are significantly overrepresented in California’s foster care system.

It's more important than ever that we create affirming, inclusive environments where LGBTQ+ youth feel safe and loved exactly as they are.

The revised California state budget now includes
$20 million for CASA programs! We are grateful to
Speaker Robert Rivas, Pro Tem Monique Limon,
Budget Chairs John Laird and Jesse Gabriel, and
our budget champions, Assemblymember Mia Bonta
and Senator Tom Umberg, for seeing the impact
that CASA volunteers make.

Governor Gavin Newsom, the Assembly and Senate
agree that children in foster care and the juvenile
justice system need the transformative support of a
CASA volunteer. We urge you to include the $20
million for CASA funding in your final budget.

To our supporters, you can reach out to Governor
Newsom to share what CASA funding means for your community at
www.gov.ca.gov/contact
(use the "Legislation Issues/Concerns" topic area) or 916-445-2841.

Thanks to the collective voices of our community, the California Legislature has included crucial funding for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) in this year's budget. This is a massive step forward, but we need your help to get it across the finish line.

The clock starts at midnight, Monday, 6/15, for the Governor to make any changes before the June 30th deadline.

Now is the time to call Governor Newsom to thank him for his support of foster youth in California and to share how critically important these funds are to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of California's foster youth.

Imagine the profound impact this investment could have on the lives of foster youth across our state:

More CASA volunteers: This means more trained advocates to serve as a consistent, caring presence for children navigating the complexities of the foster care system.

Enhanced training and support: We can provide our dedicated advocates with even better resources and training to effectively champion the needs of the children they serve.

Stronger local CASA programs: This funding will bolster the capacity of local programs throughout California, ensuring they have the resources to meet the needs of youth in their community.

Greater awareness: It will help shine a brighter light on the urgent needs of foster youth, fostering a more supportive community for them.
Increased reach: Most importantly, this allows us to expand our reach to the many children who are still waiting for a dedicated advocate to speak up for them.

Let's rally together to make this happen for California's foster youth. Your voice can make all the difference.
