❤️ SMOKEY HAS BEEN WAITING HIS ENTIRE LIFE FOR SOMEONE TO CHOOSE HIM. ❤️
Some cats get adopted within days. Others wait a few weeks. And then there are cats like Smokey, who keep waiting while everyone else seems to find their happily ever after.
Smokey has been looking for his forever family since he was just a baby. He’s been in foster care for the past three months, and in all that time, not one person has expressed interest in adopting him.
Why? Because Smokey was born with a heart condition.
Smokey has a small hole between the ventricles of his heart, called a ventricular septal defect (VSD). And while that diagnosis may sound frightening, here’s what we wish more people understood:
Smokey doesn’t know there’s anything different about him.
He lives his life like any other cat. He plays, explores, and enjoys all the things that make being a cat wonderful. His cardiologist has even explained that his condition may remain stable, meaning Smokey could potentially live a long, normal life.
But those two words — heart condition — have been enough to keep people from giving him a chance.
And that absolutely breaks our hearts.
Today, we’re asking for something a little different. We’re searching for a very special person or family willing to open their home to Smokey as a permanent medical foster.

What Smokey needs is someone who can look beyond a diagnosis and see a cat who deserves the same love, security, and sense of belonging as every other cat.
Smokey would do best in a calm, stable home where he can settle in, feel secure, and have the space to be himself.
We love Smokey dearly. But sometimes loving an animal means recognizing that the home they’re in isn’t the home where they can truly thrive. And we want so much more for him than simply having a place to stay.
We want him to have his person. His home. His happily ever after.
Please don’t let a heart condition be the reason Smokey spends his life waiting to be chosen.
He doesn’t need someone to save him from dying. He needs someone to give him a beautiful life worth living. ❤️
