In June 1846, Lindsay & Jesse Applegate (accompanied by Levi & John Scott), lead a wagon train over the "Southern Route" from Fort Hall, California through the Umpqua Valley and ending in Willamette Valley. We recently gave a presentation to the sixth grade class at Geneva Academy in Roseburg. Using materials provided by GSDC, students were tasked with interviewing their relatives. For most, this was the first time they had given thought to their family history!
